Welcome to LUNG LAB. This vid poses "Is IPV or Intrapulmonary Percussive Ventilation a lung protective strategy". Throughout the video clips, you will find multiple examples starting with a video of entrainment occurring based off of the physics of Venturi and Bernoulli's principle. Below is a link to help explain this principle better.

The following videos will show the dynamic test lung and balloon surfaces the Phasitron (sliding venturi) can compensate for without having to adjust the IPV (ventilator).
Next, you will see the ICU version of IPV the VDR (Volumetric Diffusive Respirator 4) and its use invasively and non-invasively. All the products are part of the IPV line and use the same Phasitrons. In the literature, you will find this mode of ventilation also categorized as HFPV or High-Frequency Percussive Ventilation. There are multiple videos of using this mode of ventilation from some of the smallest neonates to full grown adults.
(10:20) The final clip is a rat's lung while being expanded using PEEP you will see the expansion happening slowly showing how the more compliant tissue will expand first and then the less compliant tissue will stubbornly take its time to recruit. This effect happens intrinsically when we attempt to recruit with constant pressure subjecting the healthy tissue to become over pressurize/overdistended in order to recruit collapsed alveoli.
Pulmonair is the official distributor of IPV technology and these clips were provided by them for educational purposes. The link below will help with acquiring studies for IPV, case studies, and educational material
