One of the most powerful quotes this man has said that I think about a lot is. “Someone has it worse and is still doing it better”
@amrit5679
26 күн бұрын
Here’s a simplified explanation of the key points discussed: 1. Hard Work Comparison: The speaker compares modern work ethic with that of slaves in history, suggesting that if slaves could endure hard labor all their lives, people today can work hard too. The idea is that if you enjoy what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, just like the famous quote that says someone who loves walking goes further than someone who only loves the destination. 2. Ignoring External Opinions: The speaker emphasizes that other people’s opinions about your life and work don’t matter because, in the grand scheme of things, neither you nor they will matter after death. Therefore, it’s better to focus on what you enjoy and what makes you happy. 3. Finding Enjoyment in Work: The speaker enjoys the small rewards they get from running a business, like writing, discussing improvements, and sharing ideas. They emphasize doing what feels rewarding to you, even if others see it as punishment. 4. Breaking Free from Expectations: To overcome societal and parental expectations, or past traumas, you should focus on what genuinely excites you. The speaker explains that most people don’t know what they want because they haven’t tried enough things. Experimenting and exploring different interests is the way to find out what you truly enjoy. 5. Direction Over Perfection: Instead of trying to find the perfect thing to do, start with something that interests you. The speaker shares their experience of choosing between different business ideas (frozen yogurt, test prep, and a gym) without knowing for sure what they would like. The key is to start somewhere, make progress, and learn along the way. 6. Avoiding What You Hate: If you’re unsure of what you like, focus on avoiding what you hate. The speaker moved away from things they disliked, such as a boring job and a city they didn’t like, to find something more enjoyable. 7. Perfectionism as Procrastination: The idea that waiting for the perfect opportunity or the perfect plan often leads to doing nothing. Perfectionism is just procrastination disguised as quality control. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, it’s better to take action and improve as you go. 8. Investing and Inflation: The conversation touches on how inflation motivates people to invest rather than just save money. If you don’t invest, your money loses value over time due to inflation. In business, this pressure encourages people to use their resources effectively rather than letting them sit idle. These points focus on the importance of pursuing what genuinely interests you, taking action instead of waiting for perfection, and finding your path through experimentation and learning.

If I ever lack motivation to get something done - it helps to draw on the negative energy that we inevitably receive at times in life from our peers, friends, family etc. If you believe there are people who genuinely don't want to see you succeed and are actively wishing on your downfall, then those thoughts are ENERGY. Tap into that energy to ignite the fire within. Anyway enough writing, time for some more pull ups!

As someone who tells myself a lot of lies, I don't think it's mentally healthy to get used to ideas like that. But I respect you for the pull ups because almost nobody trains with those anymore.
@saintjabroni

@@vexrich What do lies of the self have to do with anything here? Real question. A little confused. I think, if anything, using someone’s doubts of your potential as fuel source, if you find it to be falsely in line with your potential as *you* know it, and you succeed in ___ as you would anyways in this scenario, you’ll be proving yourself right x2. Basically, what the OP stated rings very beneficial for a lot of people out there, including myself. Support from others is way nicer than rather complete negativity (not to be confused with criticism), in my experience, but at the end of the day, personally, most of the work needing done and getting done happens via learning to master a craft one-on-one (all with yourself).
@vexrich
Жыл бұрын
@@saintjabroni It's very easy to overemphasize a negative influence. That's great if you can position yourself just close enough that it's a form of motivation, but if I was thinking about what other people thought all the time I'd never get anything done.
@saintjabroni
Жыл бұрын
@@vexrich I think this is a more nuanced/complex concept than how you appear to be taking it. Perhaps that’s just your experience and mine is different. Here’s an example from my homefront: Sometimes I’m plainly and stupidly insecure all on my own about something (most of the time I know I need not be, it’s just an issue that can come and go, unless mitigated just right, which, I do do better with age). If during this insecurity bout I get some sense of doubt or obvious doubt from the outside world, actual doubt- I tend to wake up and rise the hell up…and fire away on what I’m trying to accomplish. In my case, in this example, it’s nowhere as much a matter of me wondering/caring what people think than it is my getting a bit lost, for lack of a better way of saying.
@vexrich

My opinion is. "we all have the thing we love, and are passionate about in life. The thing that gives us fulfillment. For some, its painting, or photography, or sport, or whatever. It just so happens, when the thing you love is business. A good byproduct of that is a shit ton of money. Less likely if your thing is photography. Either way, the money isnt what matters, and thats what we get caught up in. Its the fulfilment"

try things out because only then you will have the perspective to make a judgement...not from searching your Ikigai or other bs. Just give yourself time to try different careers out(of course things you already like doing or have a strong interest in on a daily basis) and then make your decision based on the information, emotions, possibilities(from an optimistic and persimistc viewpoint) gained and felt during this time. This is the only way you are going to solve this problem and success in my opinion(whatever succes means for you) Hope I could help :)

It is not a shame to lack something. In fact, you are not alone. For me, to get out of there was first the Love of Jesus and secondly to learn to love myself. Learn to love you. Love even the one who still lack that real "want". A father (true and genuine one) when he sees his toddler trying to walk and fail to do so, he doesn't judge him too hard. In fact, he doesn't judge him. He loves him. Even when he falls. Why ? Because he understand that it is a process. Eventually, the toddler will make it. Eventually, he will walk. Love that part of you who are still struggling as a parent who loves his toddler even when he falls. Courage man !!!
