@@creative-name5279 Honestly Phil seems a guy who has a level of stupidity that easily puts Homer Simpson's and Patrick Star's stupidity to shame. Like literally does this guy have an iq below -25 or something? How stupid does one have to be to realize that the purpose of overcoming a great challenge is to learn the mechanics of the game's gameplay style, learn and observe enemy attack patterns, experiment with different weapons to find out which is the best tool for the job for the given situation, learn from your mistakes, try new strategies if his previous one isn't going his way, take a break and come back later with a clear mind if he starts getting mad and impatient etc. Phil just seems like he does all of these stupid decisions on purpose just so he can come up with these bs arguments all for the sake of attention seeking from his fans.

Tbf I feel like R&C1 isn’t too bad with mainly just using the wrench if you position yourself right, I always did that as a kid and replayed the game so much that I rarely used weapons except for maybe the walloper and on bosses. DSP most definitely doesn’t have that kind of learning ability though
@chaffXgrenade

Between the high cost of weapons/ammo and the low amount of bolts you got from enemies and boxes, R&C1 kinda indirectly *taught* us to use the wrench more often than not, save for enemies you could only hit with long-range weapons or bosses.

So, for those who don't know, these last three videos were originally uploaded to RenegadeOperative's channel a few years ago when I wasn't able to do so myself due to a copyright strike (don't worry, the strike wasn't DSP-related), which was why the second half of FFX had to be split into multiple parts to fit within the video length limit that KZitem forced me into at the time. Renegade has moved away from "the antics" and onto bigger and better things (and good on him for that), focusing on his own original content, and to keep that kind of negative attention away from his channel, he chose to make the montages private. Now, I've had these backed on up on a hard drive (along with the rest of my TIHYDPs) since I originally made them. The only reason I hadn't re-uploaded them earlier was because, as you all know, I'm fucking lazy. Also, I didn't wanna just immediately put them back up here without letting Ren know first 'cause I don't wanna come across as being rude. Sure, they're *my* videos, but they were on *his* channel first, y'know? I'm just like that. So, yeah. That's that. Move along. Nothing to see here... for now.

50:50 Usually, Phil's rants are not worth a serious responce, but he complains about this particular topic a lot and it's rather annoying. The answer is quite simple actually: There has always been a strive for gameplay variety. Even during the PS1/N64 era, we had games such as Final Fantasy 7 - a game that had several minigames, such as the Chocobo Races, a submarine shooting minigame and even a bike chase sequenze. Hell, even Mario 64 offered some racing minigames, even though they did not stray too much from how the main game works. However due to the technical limitations of the PS1/N64 (and earlier), things like the hoverboard races would have been rather difficult to implement and that'S why most developers would just stick with the main focus of the game, rather than bothering too much with minigames. When the PS2/Gamecube came out, developers had more experience with 3D games in general and the advanced technology allowed for greater gameplay variety. That's why a lot of those games have more fleshed out minigames. And of course, it's not a secret that R&C, J&D and even Sly Cooper to a certain degree, were influenced by one another.
@bunglesnurch2062

Man, I forgot all about how this was a major thing he bitched about during his PS2 gameplay. It's pretty stupid to just outright shit on all variety period, especially since he only bitches about it because he sucks. Some variety never hurts, it keeps the gameplay exciting. Plus, there's 2 fucking hoverboard races in the entire game, I wouldn't call that an oversaturation of variety , it's just one of the many examples of Phil being a bitch who doesn't know what he's talking about

@yfnratchet
4 жыл бұрын
Michael Dunlap | ‘End lag’ is a term for the amount of time after an animation (usually an attack in most games) in which the player cannot control their character, and their character has no active hitbox. Essentially, it’s how long after an attack or move that the player/character cannot do anything. In most games, the end lag is simply the last few frames in a move, like when a characters pulls back their fist after a punch. In the Walloper’s case, the end lag is so horrible that the amount of inactive time is tangible (around 1/3 of a second, or 10 frames at 30 FPS). That amount of end lag is *abysmal* in action/fighting games.

Chris Walker When I got the first game last month, I managed to beat the final boss with the Tesla Claw, Devastator and Blaster.

A lot of games in ps2 era used triangle for quit instead of circle button. One of the confusing thing was to find kingdom hearts accepting circle as only exit button.

I have been a life long fan of Insomniac Games ever since the PS1 (same with Naughty Dog as well actually though lost some interest with Uncharted and hate TLOU) but with that being said I've actually NEVER finished Ratchet 1 either on PS2, PS3 or PSVita so I'll give DSP SOME credit for actually beating the game, especially with how shit he was playing it 🤣

@Derran Thervese Only about 2 Years ago I rebought ALL th Ratchet games on PS3 and have been planning on going through all of them, just haven't gotten around to it unfortunately (pretty sure beside Ratchet 1 the only ones I haven't finished are RC1 as well as All 4 One & Q-Force... Or Full Frontal Assault in the US)

What does he means by "primitive games" ? GC/PS2/Xbox is nowhere near primitive... they're not even 20 years old yet lol Primitive is Atari or NES... but certainly not the game he is playing here...

Agreed with ornstein, personally I like them just to make sure I'm catching everything being told, I hate to miss something on a cut scene then I just can't go back to hear it again until the game is done with. And for LPers, they like to turn on subtitles so we can still see what's being said while they're talking over it, not that Phil cares about his fans or the plot of the game though

I didn't really enjoy this game. I was spoiled by the sequels. The lack of strafing (before the Thruster Pack upgrade), the abysmal auto targeting system imo, and the lack of upgradeable weapons and health outside of buying them, made this one not as fun. I wont go as far as to call it bad, but this game was definitely a "one and done" game for me. I'm glad I finally got to experience it with the HD version, but I doubt I'll ever play this one again. I could always return to Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal, and even Deadlocked, but this one? Not a chance.

ThundagaT2 Well that's completely valid. I like going back to it because of nostalgia but as it is the first entry into the series it has quite a few problems. Going Commando is my fav.

That's fair, that's why I try my best not to play games later down the series, because I know the older games will lack in some regards, for better or worse I wouldn't know.I still love the first game because it was my first Ratchet and Clank, but I can accept how simplistic it is compared to later games
