I was a flight attendant for 20 years. Over 130 countries under my belt. I had to fly on other airlines to get to the flights I would be working. We were not allowed to use certain airlines to commute. Frontier was one of them as well as Aeroflot. So that kinda tells you something. And yes, if it is a mechanical delay the airline owes you hotel, meals and transportation plus anything else you had to pay to get to your destination or for toiletries, etc.

For all the traveling u have done, this is the worst experience? Consider yourself blessed. Having been a road warrior of biz travel, this is nothing. True, the contract of carriage specifies hotel and meal allowance. As far as disputing charge with Frontier on card, that is what I recently had to with Princess as they refused to refund my $$ from a cruise PRINCESS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF STAFF! Princess wanted me to accept cruise credit or rebook. This cancel was 3 weeks prior to an LA departure to Mexico. I rebooked with Royal. Never again Princess.

If you opt for the credit as he did, you do not receive the allowances for hotel, meals and transportation. It's when you're delayed and take another flight with the same airlines -- haven't read current details on each airline but believe this is still the "practice".

Stick with the big airlines, you travel so much. You should have frequent flyer perks, if you don't have them, you will soon. Get your credit card to get you miles too. Frequent flyers get offered better (free) hotels for these delays

I have also heard the horror stories about Spirit yet I had a wonderful experience with them. I was going to Vegas right before the pandemic and on the return flight we had to reschedule due to an issue with the plane. There wouldn't be another flight till the next morning and I was stressed out. The day before I pulled my hamstring and walking was extremely painful. Spirit comped me a room and gave me a food voucher on top of a wheel chair. I was so relieved, it didn't cost me a dime and I got a massage in my room (that I paid for). What could have ended terribly is nothing but a positive memory.

Sorry you've experienced that! It's a new world of travel out there. Last time I flew (7/22) we were delayed because someone on the flight deck flipped out and quit thirty minutes before boarding commenced. Only flown Frontier once. Spirit many times, during Hurricane Nathan 5 years ago I called Spirit to tell them I would be missing my flight because parts of the Pan American highway were gone, roads washed out and flooded, and their call center said they would not rebook me because their computer did not show bad weather in that area. Crazy times.

I also flew Frontier for the first time going to San Juan last year and my return was a nightmare!!! I had a TSA agent straight up tell me I was discriminated bc of my disability! There were no more flights I booked a last min flight also through Jetblue and then Frontier lost my bag when I got back and it was completely damaged! I got 0 of my money back except a refund for return portion. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! And terrible customer service. Ugh sorry to hear I’m not alone! Never again!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes trying to cut cost ends up costing more. Not to say that it doesn't happen in other airlines but at least the others will take care of you. Not the way you wanted to end a quick relaxing trip.

Exactly… there’s no way I’d fly them to begin with. Everyone has issues. It’s not like it was years ago. You want to fly with someone who has the air lift/power to get you out a particular city. I saw someone comment on here that they got to New Orleans just in time w/ Frontier to depart for a cruise that left from there. They probably declined trip protection on the cruise as well.

I will never try to use Frontier again. I had a flight booked for a weekend, from Ft Lauderdale to Asheville. They canceled the flight without explanation and couldn't rebook me until Sunday...which defeated the whole purpose. 🤬🤬🤦🏾♂️

Sorry to hear that bro. I flew out from FL that Friday after the Hurricane but my area didn't get much of the storm. Anyways, that's why I always book my trips with my Amex Platinum. They'll put you up in a hotel if your flight is delayed over 6hrs

WOW! Never had a problem with Frontier. When I went to Vegas and that happened to me they took very good care of me. Put me up in a hotel and gave me food vouchers and paid for my mr cab fare. Sorry that happened to you Jay. I have realized that Frontier and Spirit are getting a little too sketchy for me to travel with. Spirit keeps changing flight times on me without notifying me, which is crazy! So needless to say this will be the last time I’ll take spirit unless it’s like $10.

Definitely reach customer service via email and lay out you request for refund. If no response, then hit them on social media, most companies respond swiftly to negative publicity unfortunately. Also, read the fine print on your contract as you may have been owed compensation due to the mechanical delay and can use that as leverage in your request for refund

I just flew from Ontario California, to a Orlando Florida Round Trip with frontier, about 2.5 weeks ago and they were the only airline that was giving a round trip ticket that was non-stop absolutely no issue both ways coming back on-time and a bit early. I feel like this could’ve been a bad day or I haven’t flown enough airlines, I hadn’t flown in like 10 years last flight was delta 10 years ago

Same thing happened to us with Frontier. Numerous delays and then they canceled the flight. The problem was that by the time they canceled, the tiny airport was closed and there was no one at any ticket counter. All calls went to the call center overseas and they offered flight credit. But nothing about rescheduling thr flight or hotel for overnight. Luckily American Express took care of us and paid for the hotel and Frontier put us on a flight the next day.

That's the only way these days. Corporations have deliberately eliminated customer service standards from their business models. Some might say that that's why so many CEOs jumped ship from 2019 to 2021. Their excuse is mostly we're short staffed. BTW I took Spirit last year, it was an ABSOLUTE nightmare for multiple reasons. Know what you guys are entitled to by US Dept of Transportation. I believe if we all knew the laws and requested what we were entitled to when they delay, cancel, whatever to flights, they would stop delaying and canceling flights. There's an allowance for toiletries, clothes, etc when they lose your bags and I believe the refund on your ticket should be higher than 100% of what you paid. Spirit left me in the dark trying to figure out how to file a lost bag claim - It can only be done online and I was not getting emails from them - a complete breakdown of technology occured - it was crazy - you could see emails about the 1st flight's delay and after that got no more communications for the entire trip and there after to find my bag! Could not file claims in person - exclusively ONLY online. I had to talk to a person over the phone or at the bag claims. Of course customer service phone was not accepting anymore calls most of the time as well. After I got back home, I went to the bag claim 2 times to see if they had the bag. It's an obvious complete breakdown of tech.

I'm sorry that happened to you...I'm telling you when something bad's gonna happen, it's gonna happen...I've flown with Fontier on like 5-6 trips Las Vegas-Miami and visa versa. I had my bad experience with a Lyft driver at Miami, where she dropped me off really, really far from the Frontier counter and I use a Wheelchair. Now I know that Miami.Airport is bad for wheelchairs.😒

Add Southwest to the worse airline list too. Due to staff shortage, it took us 2 days to get from Denver (connection airport) to Baltimore. They also deplaned us after 6 hour delayed without providing reasons, but I heard the staff talk amongst themselves that they couldn’t find another pilot and flight attendant to man our flight to Baltimore. They literally cancelled hundreds of flight at Denver that day. I have a lower back medical problem disability and the staff said no hotel vouchers so my option is to sleep on the hard airport chairs for 14 hours. Also, the flight they rebooked us on was 8 hours from Denver to Baltimore. We had 2 stops all over the country and supposedly, that was the best they could do. They also lost my luggage.

Frontier my shit thou. Cheap af! It's like catching a ride with a co worker. I flown them to Philly last week flight there was smooth af! On time, no turbulence no noise. On The Way Back Bitch.. the weather was so bad here in Florida we couldn't land in Ft Lauderdale. The plane flew around the Bahamas for 2hrs until it needed gas so we landed at Maimi Int. I had a headache but the Prices Bih! Im back on in less than 2wks. Back to Philly

Sounds like whoever the investor is for Frontier is going bare bones as far and as long as they can so they can squeeze every last dime out of this airline. It doesn't sound like Frontier is in it for the long run; it sounds like they just want to operate bare bones with minimal staff. I read that they got rid of all customer support on the phone to cut costs, probably. They will nickel and dime you all the way home. Not that there's anything wrong with that since it's their business marketing strategy, but it certainly does not deliver a satisfying customer experience at all.

You sound like us! We cruised out of Tampa for New Years. Allegiant canceled our flight. We drove to Tampa- got there at 3 am. In March we sailed out of Miami. Again Allegiant canceled! We live near Knoxville Tennessee…we drove to Miami and got there at 4 am! We will never, never, never fly Allegiant ever again. I guess they can book cheap flights every day if they don’t plan to actually fly anywhere! 😬

Frontier used to be good, but they have gotten really bad and their flight times make no sense. I live in Denver, so they are our hometown airline, but I refuse to fly them anymore. Wise choice to avoid them!!

In February I came 2 hours early to the San Juan Airport for a Frontier flight. There was a line of 10 people needing to check bags but THERE WERE NO TICKETING AGENTS, and none ever came. I sent my girlfriend through security to the gate to see what was going on. The gate agents said they were understaffed and closed the ticketing gate early. They said we should have arrived earlier and would be missing the flight. I called customer service but after about an hour never spoke to a single person until after the flight left. After takeoff the agents returned to the ticketing gate, to some very angry customers. They booked us a flight for the next day but REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE TAXI AND HOTEL WE REQUIRED, not to mention another day of unnecessary PTO for us both, and dog care. Cheapo me tried them again a few weeks ago - I cancelled within 24 hours but had to email them 15 times over 2 weeks to get my refund. I did what I should have done before and cancelled my Frontier credit card. Never flying them again!

Delta isn't much better. My son was " held hostage" in Atlanta Airport for over 30 hours. They kept saying he could get a different flight, but with almost 200 people looking for flights, it never happened. They refused to pay for lodging, food, nothing. I found him a flight, after Delta told him no other airline was flying either, and had him home in a couple hours. no more Delta for us.

They did the same to me. Sat on a plane at the gate for 3 hours. Missed my connection, had to buy a delta flight. Frontier still hasn’t reimbursed me but said if it’s approved they’ll only pay for the unused leg not reimburse me for my flight I purchased.

Was supposed to fly out of Florida via Frontier on March 10th.... our flight got canceled but it was confusing because the frontier website still showed a second listing for our flight number as being on time so we were like "Okay something is funky here is it really cancelled?" So we went to the airport... the lines to talk to someone for Frontier were insane. They kept telling people to move from one line to another all the while only annoucing that if people wanted refunds they needed to do it online or over the phone and then just as soon as my boyfriend was just about at the front of the line they announced their systems were down. There was never any reason given for the cancelled flight and if I'm not mistaken I swear I heard them say all frontier flights were cancelled. They were the only airline that seemed to have that big of an issue that day. While my boyfriend and I would have felt safer on the smaller planes due to recent events involving Alaskan Airlines Boeing planes, we ended up waiting at the airport all day to catch an Alaskan Airlines flight. Spirit may have them beat. Had a delay. No one was available at gate to answer any questions. The passengers were abandoned for over 5hrs without any updates, water. Not a face insight. We get what we pay for. Those airline types save money by not having any customer service

I despise Frontier. It’s no wonder they have no real way to contact a live person anymore. They’d never be able to keep anyone with all the disgruntled passengers that would be calling them and pitching fits. It’s all done through chat now and even then, all you get are cut-and-paste responses from (likely) overseas reps. Their customer service is deplorable given how they treat their passengers even when things aren’t going south!

You'll fly with the airline again, I guarantee it. Wait until you see a $20 fare to San Francisco from New York or something crazy like that and you'll be eating your words. As for Frontier, they aren't a bad airline. I flew them a number of years ago and they provided freshly baked cookies onboard in coach! None of the US domestic carriers do that!

If I had experienced this, I would be requesting hotel, meals and compensation for incidentals. They are obligated to provide these things for their mechanical failure. It's okay brother, you wouldn't be asking for anything that you're not entitled to.

Brah, we were in Orlando in August and I see this huge line that snaked with at least 150 people that said luggage drop off. I was like WTF! Then I see the sign again and it said Frontier Airlines, luckily we were flying Alaska Airlines! The reason for the line was Frontier cancelled a flight that was supposed to depart at 6:30 AM, we got to the airport at 3:00 pm! People were so upset by this time that they called security & police to calm the customers. The only reason why I knew the flight was supposed to leave at 6:30 AM was Frontier announced that the next flight will be at the same time tomorrow!! I was like this was enough for me to never fly Frontier and your vlog solidified it for me!!

I'd probably say that Frontier and Spirit tie for the worst airline. I only flew both twice in my life and never again (Frontier was a slightly better experience, but still way below even Southwest). Spirit, the last time I Flew with them, wanted to charge me $10 for a boarding pass, the flight crew seemed rude (although they were trying to be funny, they weren't), among other things (baggage fees which are insane compared to airlines like Southwest -- which doesn't have any -- and United which for most people flying around the US< it's $35 for a checked bag. I think Spirit wanted to charge me $50 for a checked bag and then another $35 for a carry-on, which was about 3x what I would have paid with United, which they only make me pay for the checked bag for $35. But with Spirit I ended up paying about $85 in baggae fees + $10 boarding pass fee to print the boarding pass -- should have just gone with United even if it was the same price in the end, as the experience would have been way better). Now the first two flights on Frontier were OK (but this was back in 2012). The last two were less than ideal, but still not as bad as Spirit. Primary issues were I made the mistake choosing a set behind the exit row and if you do, the tray tables are tiny in comparison to other rows that are not located by an emergency exit. SEcond time was my fault as I chose an emergency exit row only to find those seats don't recline and are plastic with fold-up bottoms so people can leave the plane through the exit if needed. So those two were my fault, so I put them a step ahead of Spirit, but still behind SW in most other areas, partially because of the little up-charges, like there are no free seats and the seat price is separate from your ticket price. In some cases this isn't much, but in others it may mean spending another $25 each way for a seat in addition to your ticket (and any checkd bags).

I had a great experience with Southwest Airlines. Wayyyyy better than United, or Delta.

I think American Airlines is by far the worst and especially if partnered with British Airways through London, Heathrow. Total nightmare!! Every time I have flown international with American Airlines it’s been horrible!! I’m a frequent international traveler 🧳… Domestic flights, Southwest is awesome!
