Damn - this is probably the most exciting vlog you all have done yet, for me. I love camping in the back of my truck, but being able to use it also. This will take my truckbed camping to a new level! As to price, the ARE topper on my Ram, color matched with insulating rug stuff and LED light, 12v sockets, cost about $4k. So to get one that can do far more for $10-14k, seems pretty reasonable. You get what you pay for, and when it comes to the mounting racks and something that won't leak, paying for it up front is better than cussing about it during a storm.

The "value" really comes from getting some of the slide-in benefits but without the payload penalty, or dragging a trailer through a shelf trail network. These and their competitors (GFC, AT Overland, Alucab) are all around 300-350lbs. That means you can still do some decent off-roading with your shelter. Totally depends on your niche needs though. We're debating this purchase right now with an AT Overland Atlas vs a off-road camper trailer. Price-wise FWC is middle of the pack, GFC is closer to $8K and the others start at $13K. All of them are back-ordered by several months to a year so the market is okay with the pricing. Feels like there needs to be a DIY kit to convert my Leer truck cap for 20% the cost...

A lot of trucks, like my 2021 F150, have a 360 degree camera system that won't function properly with protrusions above the cab. Problem is dust. You really can’t seal the bed and rear tail well enough. Anyone who has tried to convert a shelled bed into sleeping quarters will quickly understand. I did a couple of years ago and it is the primary reason I got rid of mine and got a used 2017 FWC 11k. Bet I could get 15-18k for it now. 🙄 Awesome lightweight off-road slide in. I’ve put on over 10k miles of washboard and whoops just getting to/from my house/pavement, let alone dedicated trips, and it is holding up extremely well. With only a factory cooktop and heater (battery) as options it still has a ton of dry, secure space that I can haul non-camping stuff in and still kinda used my truck as a truck.

A great idea that isn't just a super use specific bro tool like a roof top tent, but that being said, a bit spendy. There are too many ways to make this sell for less than $4k. It's essentially a topper with a pop up roof in concept. Remove the Brotopax mounts, the solar panel/ inverter, the windows in the fabric, the custom aluminum framed sliding bed mechanism and replace it with a simple board you can just flip over, you will have recovered a hefty chunk of asking price right there. There are many in certain circles who will buy anything that looks like a do-dad though. If they'll buy it, might as well take their money.

If the price is not an issue for the buyer, then this at least provides another alternative for someone looking for a more basic camper. It is very lightweight and I imagine does not give a top heavy feeling to the truck when its offroad. It can fold down very slim when not in use but also provide the ability to stand up in it when its opened up. You could skip the electronics and simply carry a small generator and power bank as well as a portable toilet and cooktop. So it gets you out there with less weight and more floor space in the bed of your truck. Not perfect for everybody but I haven't really seen any other company offer a truck topper that extends over the cab and has the ability to be raised and lowered. At the very least its different then most options available today.

Certainly at the top of my daydream list for lightweight and simple but roomy - miles ahead of coffin-like beds available in wedge popup toppers.. for $10k and above you'd think you'd get some rounded edges. They seem to take their honeycomb sheets, cut rectangles and butt-end them together. Add the template cut vinyl popup material and viola, $10k. Do the camper jack brackets have to stick out so crudely? That's tear your shirt every time you try to squeeze through your garage. I hope process improvements can shave that cost down, or at least add a little finesse to the final construction. I can't commit just yet, value is still in question.

Ten grand is steep enough to be prohibitive but still tempting for our long bed…. DIY I guess ha.

They start at 10 grand...for a glorified topper. 😂🤣

This thing is garbage. Took delivery of mine in late January this year and within the first month had a list of warranty issues. 5 year warranty they say, but good luck on getting them to honor it. I had this pile of crap sold by august, same year. Absolutely hated this thing, great idea, but horribly executed.

To everyone commenting on the price tag, yes it is on the higher end, however, four wheel campers aren’t like any other campers/RV’s. You buy one for life.

Kind of pricey and also I guess on a LONG WAITING LIST!

No likely, doesn't seem reasonably priced, but what is these days. Call it a GFC without a bed.

Oof. That price... no. I'm sorry but for what you get, it's not worth that at all.👎
