This is definitely a design of Ricus Van de Stadt himself. So, be very happy with it and with Godspeed it will take you to most places.😇

Do you know by suffering a little bit with a smaller boat, the joy of the new boat your building will be so much more. I’m really glad you’re doing this, you’re setting up yourself for such a joyous time when that boat is done that you’re going to build. You’re also showing other people with smaller boats that they can do travels as you do.

I remember when I first started sailing around 1970. I asked a friend who had a fiberglass boat how long he thought fiberglass would hold up. He replied, "Nobody knows -- yet." Clearly the answer is -- more than long enough. Congrats on the "new" boat.

Hi guys. Thanks to KZitem I haven’t seen any videos from you in quite a while. I think the last one was when you were trying to stay in the US for having your baby. Felt sorry that my country was not flexible in that regard. And now you have a beautiful child adding tour “crew” and a new boat too! I am looking forward to your new adventures.

Impressive, looks to be built with the redundancy of a battle boat. Hand start for the diesel and easily accessible for upkeep. Fiber glass construction, keel protecting the rudder and prop. That design looks like it will ride up the swells well and be pretty stable. All that with Malin, Vera and your seamanship should make for some good viewing.

I know this boat is small for you but, having sailed a 27 foot boat, it was my dream to have a 30+ foot boat. As you know, each extra foot in length adds 50-60 extra cubic feet of volume.

That's an astounding amount of boat for the money. Over here (Portland, OR, USA), that amount will get you something with either a missing or broken down engine, trashed interior, sketchy hull or just a lot of unknowns (how many hours on the motor - no idea, when was the bottom last painted - no idea, etc etc). Well, or a much smaller boat. :) Nicely done, and I'm very jealous of the doghouse! Some shelter from the elements would be great here in the Pacific NW. :)

Great boat you got there. Makes med proud to hear you talking so warmly about the engine, since my father for many, many years was responsible for the design for the series of small diesel engines engines. He joined Volvo Penta 1962 and as a young boy i spent time with him on boats at Krossholmen, testing out new engines and/or improvements made over the years. In these days when sustainability is discussed more and more, i am just curiois how many boats and engines built today that will last for 55 years 😊

I used to own a 1964 Cal30, a very similar boat by both design and construction, down to the quarter berth design in the stern, the insanely thick glass built and a two blade prop. I purchased her in mint condition for $5500 Canadian and sailed her very happily on Lake Ontario. She was an absolute terror to maneuver at slow speed on engine, but came alive the second speed was applied. Your boat also looks much loved and well looked after, with a ton of sensible additions.

Tiny houses, on land at least, are very popular here in the US. Now I see you will be living in your own seaworthy Tiny House. It looks very well designed and well built, and the add-ons from prior owners are sensible ones that appear to make the boat a more comfortable home on the water. I must have let you guys fall off my radar for awhile because at first I could not figure out why you were downsizing from your nice big former boat to this little bitty crackerbox one, but now I understand that you are building a new boat. Here's wishing best of luck in all you do from an old landlubber fan in north east Texas, where we are warm (hot hot hot 103 - 106 F) and dry (worst drought in many, many years.) Your price of 5,700 means you can possibly make a tidy profit when it comes time to sell, which is always a nice feature of any boat. Or, when your new boat is finished you could just tow Articos behind, and call her your dinghy.

The trouble with these kind of intermediate, temporary solutions is: those substitute boats really tend to grow on you and before you know it you’ve fallen in love with it. I’d say she’s a keeper.
