Great guide. For the next steps, I'd probably recommend fort-walling the isthmus past Corinth, then annihilating the Achaeans, Aetolians, and Akaenanians so that you can feel safe on the west coast. Obviously fort-wall those territories against the Antigonids and Epirotes. Basically, I recommend fort walls and violence.

I’ll check out Pontus don’t worry, I’ll see but we should have some good tips for making their economy strong. The economy is actually a lot stronger in general now in 0.6 :) If you toggle FOW after a few turns you should see that the Seleucids loose a lot of settlements, also you likely think they’re stronger because they actually start with a few full stack good armies now but once they’re gone they shouldn’t be too hard to beat but I’ll take a look anyway man, thanks for the comment :)

I can't wait for your new campaign. This mod is freaking awesome. I've been watching Kings and generals documentary on the Peloponnesian war. It's so cool seeing a bunch of real life cities that are getting represented in this mod. You truly feel like you're back in that time period. I can't wait till they flesh out all the other factions.

i did a bitch move. offered my royal spartan arse as a protectorate for GCS and map info in exchange for the 2 settlements north of Sparta. I couldn't get the 3rd one as I was asking for too much. but that move allowed me to have a positive income from turn 1 and easily destroy the OPM to the west and get the juicy statue of zeus, while fighting Antigonids.

In my Sparta campaign on hardest difficulty and extreme, I actually found that crappy starting army To be pretty good. Because it’s mostly ranged units you can usually kite enemy hoplites until they are exhausted then shoot them up from the flanks having conserved ammunition. One unit of light cab is all you need to smack any enemy ranged infantry. The Spartan generals being spearman is actually really handy as long as you can avoid fighting melee infantry as they just chew through enemy generals bodyguard and pretty much all cavalry. I managed to take the whole Peloponnesus in only 6 turns except the Greek city states, then I trapped the Greek city states big stack between 2 forts and while they were busy trying to move through zone of control I took out their 3 cities. Funnily enough the ai doesn’t attack cities they don’t neighbour except for naval invasions so their army didn’t know what to do after and just buggered off. The main Spartan weakness is just the total lack of recruitment. I basically had to leave half my cities empty as I simply didn’t have any units spare to garrison them I was conquering things too quickly!
@Red_Zed

Nice man! Ye any army can be good in the right hands even a full stack of Psiloi, but it’s still a shithouse of an army lol 😅 Ye Elis or Aiginion are good options to build up as recruitment hubs when you’ve taken them 😊

Neodamiea depending on the historian you pick is just slaves who bought there freedom to basically just become perioikoi aka freemen. in this mod there represented as citizens. in divide et impera there represented as low tier helot pike unit.
@Red_Zed
10 ай бұрын
So from the historians, by the time of the reforms the Neo were already citizens so that’s why they’re represented as a good phalengite unit :)
@Eurotas97
10 ай бұрын
I believe the reform depicted is the in-game equivalent of the Kleomenean reforms. Where Kleomenes completely reformed the standing body of citizens, bolstering their numbers with ex-citizens and also Perioikoi and mercenaries. The Neodamodes here effectively represent the entire citizen class, as old citizens probably would not have been distinguished from the new. I think you're referring to the much earlier freeing of helots to freedmen, during the time of Brasidas if I remember correctly

I'm really enjoying this campaign now I got over the CBT start lol. Went west and just got the second city ASAP, was very needed to get out the red and get some territory. That way I could sweep up the coast, and take everywhere up to near olympus. So pretty much what you recommended. Glad to see what you thought re the starting army lmao as that is what I was malding seriously over. The light cavalry here cant even do a back charge without dying xD. The javelin dudes alright and can put some work in but had to kite like mad to get anywhere. Sent my diplomat to make some trade routes to hopefully chill the AI out.

What do command stars actually do/give you?
@Red_Zed
10 ай бұрын
This is taken from the internet so take it with a grain of salt: Command stars work by increasing a soldier's attack, defence skill and morale by 1 point per star ( between -10 and +10). It affects all soldiers within a circle centred on the general with radius defined by the formula R = 30 + 5C + 2I where R = Radius in metres, C = Command Stars and I = Influence Wreaths. This is also for Rome TW so I don’t know whether it’s been changed at all for remastered :)

Good man! My comments on the Carthage roster is that it’s trash! 😆 but in all honesty sounds like you’re doing the right thing getting those Libyan Phalengites. The sacred band cav is also great when you can get it, avoid the Carthaginian chariots they’re rubbish, and of course eles are great for morale shocks just don’t leave them in the fight too long or they’ll go beserk 😊
