Chris Lee and Chase Robinson outline why Tennessee football has a favorable path to make the college football playoff. Topics include:
- Based on computer models, the Vols could be favored by at least 20 points in five games (Chattanooga, Kent State, Mississippi State, UTEP and Vanderbilt).
- Tennessee projects as an 8-to-10-point favorite in games against North Carolina State, Arkansas (road) and Florida.
- The Vols should be around 13.5-point favorites over Kentucky following a bye.
- Tennessee projects as a slight underdog at Oklahoma and home against Alabama, but Oklahoma comes early in the schedule and, (like Tennessee), the Sooners are breaking in a new quarterback. Plus, the Vols topped Alabama last time the game was in Knoxville.
- Finally, Tennessee will be a double-digit underdog at Georgia, but if the Vols sweep the games in which they’re decided favorites and can take either Alabama or Oklahoma, a 10-2 regular-season mark puts the Vols in solid territory at making the College Football Playoff.
