Haven't had bread in about 6 months because of the glycemic index. Have had some symptoms of insulin resistance lately so I've just ignored bread. Dr Joe any time I go to the grocery store, those loaves of bread just keep eyeing me but yeah, I just refuse to buy any. But I miss my bread meals. Will be looking out for the sourdough bread for the holidays. I hope I find a good one to buy. May also add it to my list of items that I intent to bake for the holiday. I was planning to bake some almond bread. Again thanks for sharing. Always glad to see a new upload on Saturday morning. God bless.

It would be good to show how much the blood sugar goes up after eating the bread. It would be great to enlist a type 2 diabetic in the blood test.

Have you checked how this bread affects blood glucose levels using a glucometer? I recommend measuring BG before eating, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes after eating.

Yes. Hence my recommendation but you need to make sure the one you buy satisfies the criteria I mentioned in the video because there are sourdough bread out there that are sweetened for a start. Bakers are so used to adding sugar to bread that a lot of them can't resist. Sourdough bread should be tangy to taste

Hi doctor, thanks for sharing another insightful video.I started your advise of diabetes reversal program and achieved great succeess. FBG droppped from 120s to 100s level and A1C deopped from 5.9 to 5.5 and excellent lipid profile.However after following for 3 months now i am seeing plateau effect & slowly fasting BG has again gone up to 120 levels.I am yet to analyse A1C. What is the reason of this phenomenon and how to mitigate this. Your response will be appreciated.
@drjoetvMD

The most likely reason is your fat intake is gradually creeping up. You might not realise it but it is happening. A tablespoon of olive oil here, a slice of butter there, two tablespoons of ghee or coconut oil here etc. It all adds up. The fats will take you back to where you were. As human beings, once we see success, we drop our guards and slowly go back to our old lifestyle. This is a lifelong thing. Not just for a few months. Also the fat may be coming in from too much Nuts and Seeds. You gotta watch that. Don't forget to do your exercises regularly. You have to. You need to move your muscles to get them to take up glucose from the circulation. Hope that helps

I have lots of videos on anemia. Quite a number. I am a Gynecologist (and have been for 28 years now) but I don't like talking about fibroids as the focus of this channel is on lifestyle medicine and I am yet to come across any lifestyle measure that does anything significant to the size of fibroids especially huge fibroids. Never mind the rubbish information you get on KZitem about fibroids. It's all baloney. I don't like giving people false hopes not least women looking for genuine solution to their problem. It's not unusual for grains and legumes to have a delayed "spike". A slower release of the blood sugar which is quite desirable. Plus you had fat with it

Did you mention that slow fermented Sour Dough bread has predigested sugars and starches that create lactic acid. I want to try it myself with both yeast and then lactobacillus using Whole Ancient grains with chia and olive oil. Experiment too with a Nato bread. Sticky Nato Sour Dough, you just never know until you try it.

I actually forgot to mention the Lactic acid angle in the video. Terrible of me to forget that. Yes, I like your proposed sourdough bread recipe experiment. My only suggestion is you probably don't need the olive oil in the recipe. It's surplus to requirements. It adds nothing

As a born baker my self working with my father business we been doing a sourdough bread all my life . A sourdough bread is a traditional maltese nationality bread is all about and protected by law because it is in our history and even my town is named for bread . But as a diabetic person these days we have a LGI bread made from a family friend company in our town . But now i prefer to avoid it as much as i can . If i want a toast because sometimes we all come for that taste i do keep a sliced toast i do eat one . I also have a good recipe made from lupin flour which is very good for diabetic . This bread is really filling because one slice will make you full and keep very long in the fridge or freezer . It is a bit on a heavy side yes and a little bit bitter comparing other flour but eating it with some veggies or cheese you want taste nothing at all. But overall it tastes very good and healthy . They should do make a ready mixed from this recipe and all you have to do is mixing water to it because it is a 100% safe for diabetic . Thanks for sharing .

Hi Dr Joe this sour doe Bread dosent have as much sugar as others i assume
@drjoetvMD

No sugar is added to a genuine sourdough bread. None. The taste is usually tangy as a result. Look at the list of ingredients. If it's got sugar, put it down because bakers are so used to adding sugar to bread, they are sometimes tempted to add it. If it's got added sugar of any kind, leave it on the shelf and walk away

You can ferment any grain you like. Wheat, Spelt, Rye, Sorghum, Millet etc. You need to pulverize the grain of your choice into a flour first though.
