The recording resolution is still a little bit low for this game, and I'm working on getting the mirror to run at higher resolutions while still being playable

Do you use VD? or Oculus software and Oculus mirror?...
@ThunderBatSims
Жыл бұрын
@@jazzdirt For this one just I used the on screen projection, which seemed to be the same resolution and FOV as the oculus mirror. I've used oculus mirror in the past to record Il-2 sturmovik VR in situ. I usually use OpenXR/Opencomposite for other VR games when suported. I think part of the issue is that oculus software reset my render resolution to defaults without my knowledge

@@ThunderBatSims Are you using the Q2 tethered or streaming? With streaming VD works better then the Meta proprietary software.. If tethered probably using the game as mirror should work perfectly... (so just gamecapture the game) Btw. I'm having no issues with the resolution of your streams.. It looks decent enough... I don't have a Q2. I had a Rift S before and now I have a P4... And I found that streaming (game to headset) using VD works worlds better.. So I can get a much better resolution with it.. So a better streaming (to platform) result) But if you're playing tethered that's a non-issue... Just realized there's way more factors like: Do you have ItR native on the Quest or do you have the PCVR version? Could your perceived problem have something to do with resolution scaling? Or might resolution scaling be an answer to your problem?

@@ThunderBatSims I just assumed a lot of things... sorry.. Thinking a bit more about it... I really don't know what you're doing and how? I didn't think about PC or Q native, I didn't think about streaming software, I didn't think about a lot of stuff.. I just related what you said to my situation and based what I said on that.. Anyhow, just trying to help... but out of a position of complete ignorance about your setup, I'm afraid... so.. sorry I guess

@@jazzdirt It's the PCVR version and with a quest link cable. Resolution scaling is probably the trick, but I'll have to test it out and see if openxr runtime works with this game, or at least some upscaling for the quest mirror to get it to at lest 1440p. The Aliasing is just really bad with my current recording setup

I’m 23 hours in and on my way to the final mission, have enjoyed every bit of this game and plan to do a no vanno run next 👌 I have high hopes for the sequel, I really hope there are npcs to interact with and actual shops to buy the various supplies from. Maybe the final mission will clarify the story a bit more to me but probably not lol I’m still unsure where everyone else is.. surely we can’t be the only human left.

17:20 How many times did you hear this already? 😉😁 I have to agree with you ItR does a lot of things right.... Except for cupboards and generally opening stuff.... I love the backpack. I love the gun handling and maintenance. I love the atmosphere, the environment you're walking in.. I love this game...

Just once, I played maybe 30 minutes of the first zone last a couple weeks ago, and have been itching to record it. The arms and hands getting stuck is pretty janky, but the atmosphere is great. from what I gather, there are no random spawns, so I might be trying to mod this game to add in that randomness. Getting jumped by bloodsuckers and snorks in stalker when you least expect it is the core of the horror for me

@@ThunderBatSims I will not spoil too much then... The game explains everything.. But in reply to what you said.. Rifts spawn entities locally so random spawns do happen, sounds like a lightning strike... and the tide respawns everything... I've already heard that tape in that case at least 20 times... I've played version 1.0 to the end and 2.x and mods... The game has jank.. sometimes even frustrating.. but it does so much right that that makes up for the jank imo...

@@ThunderBatSims I have played a lot of the Il-2 Sturmovik series before.. the first and second one I've positively played to death... Had a Microsoft Sidewinder 1 and later 2. After they died, I couldn't find a decent FF joystick anymore.. And I did buy the third Il-2 Sturmovik (Cliffs of Dover), never played it because I had no FF stick. Bought the last one (Stalingrad) just to get into it again.. but I didn't get to it yet.. There's so much good games and so little time if you work 60-80h a week.. Do you play with stick, or can you also play with motion controllers... in the "new" Il-2 Sturmovik?

@@jazzdirt Are the rifts those things that drop broken shard artifacts? I thought the lightning strike was signaling that a mimic got revived, or at least thats what seems to happen. There is nothing more scary than getting cornered int the dark and struggling to reload IMO.

@@jazzdirt you can use mouse or Hotas, but you definitely need a stick to enjoy the game. I'm using a logitech 3d pro and keyboard, but I managed to get some second hand pedals too and it's a blast in VR

pro tip.. use steam vr to change the VR view to Both eyes, right eye dominant to have the viewers to be able to see you aiming down sights.. for some reason it goes to the left eye by default and it makes it seem like you arent even using the iron sights.. its weird... you'll also get a full view of what you are seeing and not just one eye.. by default it removes like 20% of your view

How do you not barf when walking in VR without actually walking?
@ThunderBatSims

I've never gotten motion sickness in my life, so I don't know what that feels like. As long as I stand still while I move the player i can keep my balance, but if I move my body around while doing the artificial walk, i lose my balance and almost fall down. VR still gives me headaches from having bright screens strapped a few inches from my face, but not motion sickness

That motion specifically destroys me. I can handle any cockpit simulator, but walking is brutal. It takes everything I have to keep from leaning into it, and my throat feels like it is going to jump out of my neck.

I don't get motion sick playing sitting games.. but standing... I needed to build it up in small increments.. starting with only 3 min, now I can do 4h stints... While I could do barrel rolls in a flightsim for hours without gettin motion sick in VR.. The trick in building it up, is to never actually let yourself get sick.. quit when you're starting to sweat and feel a bit lightheaded... So you don't start to dread it... If you let yourself get sick, next time the threshold for getting in VR is going to be higher... because you start to build up this dread. And that also doesn't help because the next time you will already go in aprehensive.. which will have a negative effect on how long you can keep it up (purely mentally it puts you at a disadvantage already).. if you don't let yourself get sick.. and just increase the stint length.. You don't have that.. You just get a kick each time you can be in VR a bit longer (focus on that, focus on what you can do and be happy about the improvements, in stead of being unhappy about what doesn't work [yet]).... so you "play" for 5 min.. put it away for at least an hour.. try again.. and so forth and so forth.. Eventually you'll get your VR legs..

Some games are easier then other games.. What helped for me in "Into the Radius" (And in general VR games where you walk a lot) is just stepping in place while you're walking.. It will fool your brain into believing you're actually walking... Thus resolving the disconnect between inner ear and brain... ItR was pretty good in being motion sick friendly.. Blade and Sorcery still makes me put down the HMD after half an hour sometimes... Basically just listen to your body... if you start to sweat (other then from playing intensive games) and feel light headed.. give it a break.. it will get better over time...
