Plenty of people put their electronics in entertainment centers, against walls, etc. The key is good air flow. Make sure nothing is pressed directly against the vent openings. You shouldn't place anything above a WiFi router, because it can block signal. But also, you're being ignorant. A lot of people buy their own routers, so there's TONS of variability there, but also, different size routers will produce more or less heat. I have a 2gb/s router. It would technically fit in that box, but even right now, in an open space, in a 70 degree house, it is warm to the touch. (Aka it's over 100 degrees) You SHOULD NOT enclose your router. It's not about fire, it's about the router overheating, which can cause permanent damage to an expensive device, and leave you without internet until your ISP provides another, or you purchase another. (And you also shouldn't enclose most other electronics. Gaming consoles, like the PS5 and Xbox specifically are KNOWN for overheating within minutes when placed inside of entertainment centers.)

Claiming it'll catch fire, except the plastic housing never melts, even if the router is in a cabinet/tight space... Or it'll make the WiFi signal worse, except they probably commented from a different room to the one their router is in...

Your wifi signal from this unit will get considerably less since you'll be putting the inside antenna in a wrong position.
