I appreciate you talking about the pressure you were using with the drybrush, the video made it look like you were going hard with the brush. I'm going to have to figure out a fast way to paint 300+ Borderlands minis for the boardgame kickstarter that was recently delivered. Not sure atmospheric will work for that game but this helps put me in a mindset to look for ways to get them all painted.

I was using two way tape to hold the minis, so they were pretty wobbly. Makes the pressure used look WAY more than it was. Best of luck with those minis!! Thanks for watching

OK, that dry palette is probably the easiest home made one I've seen. Guess I'm making a tip to the dollar store this week!

Nice! I like the fine texture that these cutting boards have a whole lot more than the crazy texture of most DIY texture pads.

Fast painting you saaaay? Now that’s my kinda painting! Seriously though, it’s like the only way any minis of my own get painted anymore 😂

Also, my drybrushing tricks: I use a broken tile for my dry pallet! I also used some milliput and old bits to add texture to it for a DIY texture pallet! ❤

Sad but true 😂 Besides, any quality of painted mini is more fun than an unpainted mini!

I like the sort of micro texture on the particular cutting boards I've got. Combined with the black primer, I feel like I've got more control than with the DIY texture pallets 🤷

@@CaffeinatedMiniaturesthat makes total sense!!! The finer texture probably takes less paint off the brush with each swipe! I’ll have to try it

I painted these Lost models in a very similar way, except I printed them in clear resin so the green/blue dry brush gave it a cool ghostly glow

Drybrush tip. Make yourself a drybrush board. Take a tray or chopping board and glue a load of spare terrain pieces to it. Give yourself a mix of textures and dry brush across it until you reach a point where enough paint has come off. It's a great way to see it happen

Just in case anyone wants to look more into this style, it's basically a form of Grisaille, or Grey Scale painting. I use it a lot on my undead horde army to give it a really stylish, comic-book look that contrasts really nicely (I think, anyway) with more realistic, life-like armies. I only started using it because I'm a suckers for zombie and skelly-boy hordes, but I'm not a patient or good painter. But hey, it works for me, and you can always go over it in Speedpaints to make them look realistic if you want.
