I bought a password book off amazon, told my kids where it is located so they have full access to everything. Wrote in pencil so can easily update. Old school, but it works.

Both my older brother and myself are single without decendents ... other family but just cousins. He's 70 with a chunk of change in a TFSA. I wanna tell him to make plans for the finale but it's a bit delicate. We all face our own mortality ... eventually ... I think it's best to lessen the burden on those that remain.👍🏻

The way I would approach this situation is let him know if he doesn't want to determine where his assets will be distributed leave as is as the govenment/intestate law will make the decisions when he's gone which may not be the way he would like his assets distributed. Hard topic but better him make the decision than leave it to laws to determine.

Great video … again, thx! 🌻 Idea for future related session - preparing a ‘in Case of Death Binder’ … sounds morbid I know, but I recently learned of this idea - essentially, a ‘go to’ tool for my adult kids when I pass, where everything (including digital assets et al) to make their next steps as easy as possible is listed. I really like the idea as it fits in well w estate planning and there are free templates available for DIY. 😊 Kinda funny how the older one gets that planning well for our own demise is so satisfying /brings such peace of mind. 😇

How was the vacation Adam! in your conversation you mentioned that you are going away. Is it pre-recorded? Any how, love the dedication. I am still 15 years away from retirement but I think you have a future client. Keep doing what you’re the best @, serving Canadians with your helpful tips.

Don’t forget NFTs, Bitcoin Wallets, digital subscriptions/purchases, software licenses, even KZitem channel payouts. These will outlast the person and who/how can it be passed on?

Digital assets are easily terminated by the host company for a variety of reasons. One should not count on digital assets having permanence online. Those should be saved in other ways as Back Up.

Great topic, Adam. It’s very relevant these days. My parents and step parents are all gone now but only one of them really did anything online and had “digital assets”. I was the IT person for them and for that reason and their memory, they had all their passwords written down on a pad in their computer desk. It made the task easier after they passed although one or two of the companies absolutely refused to close and delete their accounts and information. I use a very secure password manager to make it easier for my wife and executor to deal with my digital assets but I do need to prepare a paper copy of everything.

Understand the need to do this but I'm not sure this is a good idea to store all your passwords in a Excel file; if a hacker gets that document, you are in deep trouble...
