My biggest influence is Sharon Corr, The fact that Irish Fiddle is still adapting and growing it’s living absolutely. I take things from Baroque music and classical ideas too which led me to hear Cape Breton fiddle and other versions of popular Irish tunes, Bow hold too…I prefer a more connected sound when I play, bigger bow movement….as always listening is key lots to discover and hold dear

Factor 8 has to be playing with other people and having the craic! Ten times more fun with others. Unfortunately where i live now there aren't many good irish sessions but irish music is all about community and connection imo. Great channel, keep it up.

You've said it, Callahad! I couldn't agree more -- without community and connection, I'd never have been drawn to this music and I expect many others would feel the same. Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying my channel!

Thanks Hannah. I like your insight about the conversation aspect to the music. Great insights and nice performance. I like the humor and the oops at the end.

@@leif1075 You are very welcome! I don't really play a whole lot of long pieces these days, but in some ways it would help to think of the various sections as different melodies all combined into one concerto etc. To me the enjoyment in playing Irish music comes from playing with others. I can entertain myself somewhat practicing on my own, but it's much more enjoyable when I have a reason to go out and share it with others, whether that's a session, a gig, or just swapping tunes with friends.

Because I play Irish Bodhrán the rhythm follows into my bow phrasing 😂

Is that a good or bad thing? 😂 I know there are some totally different techniques to each instrument, so some come in more handy than others when switching between the two!

@@HannahHarrisCeol it’s good. It Carries over like Irish Sean nos dancing is all the rhythmic guides to Irish bodhrán playing. Seems the bodhrán stick pattern translates to bowing patterns in terms of up down patterns with the stick to push pull bow motion and time counts. Very connected Irish music is. I speak Munster Irish. The counts in Irish music follow the Irish language number sounds. Very important to correct timing

@@HannahHarrisCeol I like your videos Very nice channel as a resource too. Once you get away from classical snobbery of the ‘correct way to play’ orchestral thinking, the violin seems to get more accessible and beautiful

Good video with lots of good ideas for what to focus on, but very bad title. I really hate those clickbait titles that are obviously wrong and corrected in the first few seconds of the video. That's what KZitem has become unfortunately apparently. There are so many other good titles that you could have chosen without going for "the RIGHT way to play Irish fiddle", that obviously doesn't exist.

Hey Florian! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your feedback here. I appreciate your honesty, and I'm so glad to hear that while the title wasn't to your liking, you got some good insight from the actual video itself. Cheers!

Flamenco instrumentation goes well with reels and jigs. We pulse alot in triplets with the Right-hand rythms. We have a blast in Phoenix!
