Thanks for mentioning this song. Hopefully they'll do it. I'm an old and long time Motown fan. I saw Smokey Robinson 4 times, the Supremes twice, Marvin Gaye, all in the early 60's, all in their primes. I saw the 4 Tops as well, and while I love their version of "Walk Away Renee", the Left Banke's version is the one that always does it for me.

Undoubtedly one of my favorite tunes of all-time. This tune was very popular as I was becoming aware of music on the radio back in 1970. I was only 9 when this hit the charts, but it has always been a favorite and holds a special place for me in my memory. Thanks for the reaction! I really like seeing the reactions from people hearing various tunes for the first time. FWIW - this is a session/studio band and Tony Burrows (the lead singer), actually sang lead on about 5 one hit wonders in a one year period of time. That's remarkable. One of those tunes was by a group called the White Plains - "My Baby Loves Loving." You need to check that out...

This reminds me of the time I went to a club with my adult daughters. The band played this song. My daughters generation did not know how to dance to this. I turned into an embarrassing dancer like the two girls on this video. Before the song was over many girls joined me. It was fun. Once my daughters found their friends thought I was cool the embarrassment went away. I love your videos. So upbeat and fun. You are a beautiful amazing couple.

Or skating down the street on my street skates with my radio in the pocket of my coullots with my earpiece so as not to disturb my neighbors. My older sister had this record and it was a favorite. We both STILL love it to this day. Thank you for doing this video and allowing an old lady to relive part of her childhood again :)

He sang 'My Baby Loves Lovin' for White Plains, 'Gimme Dat Ding' for The Pipkins, 'Beach Baby' for First Class, 'Let's Go to San Francisco' for The Flower Pot Men and 'United We Stand' for The Brotherhood of Man among others, such a talent but didn't have the same success as a solo artist.

Couple of bits of trivia that I at least find interesting: Edison Lighthouse was a "studio band"-it was all studio musicians who were basically put into a band by the record company. The lead singer, Tony Burrows, was in several of that kind of band. In 1970, he had hits with five songs in the UK, all of which were different bands, and it was those bands only hit-so he was a "one-hit wonder" five times in a year. The clips of him singing here was from a BBC show "Top of the Pops" (the British equivalent of "American Bandstand"). One week, he appeared as part of three separate groups in the same show.
