If you want brown bread, i suggest getting the one that says "типов" it's probably not what you're used to, but it's better than plain white bread. Alternatively, you can go to a bakery where they make more types of bread and more delicious, too! When it comes to produce, please, if you can, try and get your produce from local produce shops. You're supporting Bulgarian owned businesses that way.

What are the names of grocery shops in Sofia, Bulgaria? Which ones are cheaper? Please let me know. Soon I will be traveling to Sofia. Thanks.

We have Lidl - good meat Billa - very common Metro - if you shop in bulk Fantastiko - every district have it T-market - cheap not so much of a choice 345 - 24/7 working Pro market - they have lots of veggies but quality really depends on the location. I prefer them in the order I wrote them. And my opinion is only about Sofia. Most supermarkets are working until 10pm. 345, some fantastikos and Metro are open 24/7. The prices are basically the same ☺️ Hope you will like it here ✌🏼😊

Isn’t the supermarket in France open for a very limited short time or something? I hear how like it’s so crowded because it’s only open for shorter periods and so EVERYONE or the whole town crowds the supermarket at that one time that it’s open.

chai is a Bulgarian and international word...not Turkish...you wouldnt go to China or India and tell me their word for tea is actually Turkish. I am also pretty sure that Bulgarians drank tea way before the Turks came in the 14th century..

I love Bulgaria from the USA. Don’t worry, I know how culturally rich the region is. Issues like wealth are arbitrary in the scheme of timelines. Even rich regions like Scandinavia were economically poor at some point in history. Things like that shift and change. Bulgaria has fresh yummy fruits, amazing music, a magical culture, and kind people. My Ostrogoth ancestors and other tribes lived in that region for awhile so I love it.

ayran is a middle Eastern drink. nothing to do with Turkey..also i do not appreciate your condescending comment about Bulgarian bread, esp. if you come from a country where people eat Wonderbread with sprinkles on it or bread with no crust. you can find Bulgarian einkorn and glutenfree bread but probably not in this particular supermarket you are looking at it. Troya, Borovets are chocolate wafers, not chocolate

most of the fruit and vegs in bulgarian supermarkets are not bulgarian. nothing to do with the weather. you are just as likely yo get dutch tomatoes. if you want local products, you need to go to the market or order directly from the producers. you are showing a r smallish supermarket. the comparison with NL is not quite right. you can find Asian products in Bulgarian supermarket but they are not so keen on it as we actually have our own cuisine! and our type of cheeses are different. it is like saying there is not many types real feta in NL supermarkets...which is true...i mean real feta...not the imitations you sell there. also there are different types of yogurt. again the supermarket is not the benchmark.
