Yep, in the process of working with them I personally became a fan of their music. The marketing worked on me too!

You're welcome! I wanted to share a bunch of samples because I feel there's not a lot out there when it comes to promoting "guitar music" (rock, metal, country, etc.). Glad you found it informative!

This guy is brilliant! He figured out a goof way to promote a band is to get people to watch their already fully produced/completed music video. Why did the band and or music company not think of that?! Also I think he would have convulsions if he ever said "take it to the next level" without physically moving his left hand up to demonstrate what he is talking about.

Nice video. But would have been nice to hear some CPC/CPM numbers. Thanks Kyle.

While that's a good point, I intentionally omitted CPC and other objective metrics because I wanted this video to focus on digital marketing through a creative lens - I feel all too often that we forget there is a creative exercise at the heart of what we do! These campaigns were all very successful and that's self-evident from the public metrics you can find on Spotify, and I wanted to showcase the level of creativity these bands employ that makes them successful.

Hi Kyle. I noticed that all of the ads shared were exactly 15 seconds long with the exception of the second Beaches (TikTok style) shared, which was around 22 seconds long. Is 15 seconds the ideal length? Is this so they can run on Stories? Are there other reasons. Thanks and keep the great content coming!

Good observation - 15 seconds is just the convention I've adopted. It's not based on any hard data and recently I've been running ads that are up to 30 seconds long. However, I'm of the opinion that a longer ad isn't usually helpful - if you haven't convinced them to listen in the first three seconds, you probably won't convince them after that. Cheers!

Hi Kyle great video! What video convert better for you. The IG feed or the IG stories? I notice none of your examples were ig stories videos.

I find that IG feed tends to do most of the heavy lifting on a successful campaign. Not to say that IG stories and reels aren't important too! Try it all and see what works for you.

It's strange how "the band is playing" videos are such boring and yet they're still the most successful at the same time. The videos you're showing are actually almost all pretty basic, and without putting a lot of money and right skills on promoting they don't have so much value... I'm not sure about the mainstream genres, but in rock and metal surely is. The "band playing in the woods" kinda video is so so so much used that it has become a super boring cliché

The common denominator in all of these is that the visual looks... good. The content doesn't have to be innovative (which is a matter of opinion anyway) when much of the other content saturating social media is low quality/badly lit/poorly composed/etc. video capture from a smart phone. A good visual will stand out above the rest.
