Please stop. There are many survivors of this battle between settlers, governments, cowboys, and native tribes. Mormons are surviors of the same attacks and friends of many native tribes, yet certain tribes still want to hold fabrications as truth about them. Same with the orgeon trails. Same with reservations. Truth is we dont know the full scale wrong that was done to everyone at that time. Settlers wanted to settle and natives said no and became a threat to the people and the government. The government saw it as a declaration when it could been a lot more peacefull if fully understood. But the government was getting powerful and wanted to show its ability to control the situation to other nations that were causing wars and messing with american goods. The government wanted to appear as a dont f with me power and this from the natives was easily misunderstood and they became a target. Then with the violence of the civil war giving birth to Cowboys who were generally most often violent jerks who roamed the world in search of victims because either they liked war, felt wronged by the government for getting involved or who saw the world as a being who owed them their entitlement. Pioneers and settlers were settlers who were also individuals just as natives are individuals even in their own tribes and individuals have a way of hating each other for any reason and not every story that gets told about individuals is true, kind, or even helpful. Lots of people miscommunicate and it seemed at that time there was a lot of it going on for people who became both villainized and martyred. History isnt there for people to like but its hard when people either dont understand or lie about it and there was a lot of that on every side. I mean for goodness sake we still do it every day! But yes many of us want peacefull relations and to better understand each other. But to do that we need to stop finding ways to lump each other into groups of villains. I know there's a lot of stupid entitled bratty white people who give me a bad name just as there are some entitled bratty other people be they white, brown, black, or yellow (insensitive term to lump together asians italians and espania people together). If you want to be offened you will be and theres no one who can stop you because youre an individual who cant see individuals anymore than any individual normally does

Blindly saying you admire other cultures can put you in a pretty disgusting place. For instance saying you love African culture means you also love their belief that raping a virgin cures you of HIV. That is still going on today all over Africa and has been for decades. So saying you love African culture means you love that millions on prepubescent girls have been raped by men with HIV trying to cure themselves. Saying you admire NA culture means you admire all the things I listed above. Pretty horrific of you to be honest. Why do you admire mass torture, murder, and rape bro?

I don't ever want Native culture to disappear. It's a stain on history how Native Americans have been treated and displaced. The amount of original culture that was lost when they were uprooted from their lands and no longer had the same plants, animals, and surroundings that their unique religions and practices were built upon, it's heartbreaking to reflect on. They are a culturally rich and beautiful existence. Keep surviving and passing your culture to the younger generations. I don't have Native blood, so it is not my heritage to protect, but I hope the coming generations take as much pride and passion in their roots as those who came before them.

No Considering a tribe didn't even use much land a couple hundred years ago, wouldn't it be normal to move a few miles away from them, use that land, and if you prosper start using more unoccupied land? @@hunnybunny20000 my workplace and many others I’ve seen have done this! Once a week I have a Scottish coworker wear a kilt or other tartan item, many indigenous workers I’ve seen wear traditional beaded accessories (like necklaces, earrings, hair pins). It’s totally normal to incorporate your culture into your work attire! I think a lot of people just haven’t tried. You may be surprised at what’s allowed (as you could easily call discrimination in this day and age).

I remember when I went to my first Powwow. It was years ago, one of the people there said he was from the Blackfoot tribe and gave me a feather saying it held the spirit of a bird that would watch over me. He said if I could keep it undamaged for a year he would welcome me into his tribe. I've had it for three years now and it's pretty cool.

Now im 24 and upset that not enough time or genuine effort put into teaching people about native American people. Its clear native Americans are not "all dead" as much as the us public school system pushed the lie that they dont exist anymore. THEYRE STILL HERE. We knew the value of land already, we took it from them. We certainly "defended" ourselves against their raids. And we already didn't let our kids learn from others, thats why they killed the others. I doubt that this is what the natives wanted you to learn.

@Evert1992 Dense take. And the person using the internet to make the OP clearly didn't interact with or learn from the indigenous people who were alive during the time your little drum beat of a comment references.

@@EnduringCrow quite an unintelligible take, but i think i have diciphered. I did not suggest OP time travelled nor that he has found alternate ways of communicating with the internet. I merely suggest that the ideas OP "has learned from natives" are the very ideas that nearly wiped them out. You can clearly see his profile picture a sigma and quite Aryan looking man. I doubt past, present and future natives support those views. Do you disagree And if so why? Thats how arguments work, i think opinion because of those reason!

@@Evert1992 I did not learn from the natives personally, I was referring to their history and what ultimately led to their downfall; I am a history buff. I am not responding to the others, who either willfully or ignorantly, misinterpreted what I was saying in an attempt to own me. As for my profile icon, it is just simple A.I. art of a shirtless fantasy warrior character, it is not meant to be taken as some alpha male or Aryan symbol. But then again art is open to interpretation, so you may think what you like.

fun fact. native Americans didnt want to give up their slaves so they didnt. not until after the 1900's. they are also not the originals at all. they from asia. they enslaved all races, whites, blacks and even their own people. learn real history people. these people were not tree hugging sweet peoples at all. stop with the propaganda.

One time, my dad told this floridian woman he was a dakota man, and when she spoke with my mother over the phone later, she was like "Yeah it's crazy he was talking about being from a tribe. Those went extinct ages ago." Then my mom explained that he was native and she herself was too (anishinaabe). Kinda wild and depressing people just think we don't exist anymore, and even more depressing how many of us have has zero interaction with our cultures.

@SOBEKCrocodileGod well as far as historical peoples cultures I'm gonna have to go with the Indians (actual india) as being the one I would like our culture to most resemble as they cared about not causing suffering.
