The Wizards frustrate me. I've always kind of liked them (painful), but the Beal deal was bad for the team. Beal's a solid player and I'm glad he's this successful, but the Wizards need to be freeing up money for free agents, not paying an existing losing roster a king's ransom. A bad team with money to burn has a ton more potential than a bad team with nowhere to go financially. I know the Wizards want a star to put people in the seats, but pursuing winning will do that even better.

People might not remember this, but Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd clearly said in an April 2022 media interview, "I don't know if (Jalen Brunson) needs an agent. If he does, put my name in the hat." This was NOT a joke, because Coach Kidd clearly knew who Brunson's agent, Sam Rose was, and that Sam was the son of New York Knicks GM Leon Rose. When Jalen's father, Rick Brunson, was hired as an assistant coach for the Knicks, the entire Mavs organization knew there was ZERO chance Brunson would come back. 💁🏻♂️🏀

The decision is what's wrong with free agency. For most of the history of Basketball gms are smart enough to trade people before they leave as free agents.

It's understandable why Brunson went to the Knicks, but I think his career will be destroyed there

I think Brunson is a fine player. I think he’s a good piece. I don’t understand why anybody would be so eager to pay him that much money other than the conflict of interests.

I hope OKC can get their shit together and try to trade away their excessive hordes of picks, this is a good time contend with their young players and get great veteran role players from mediocre teams, examples like the Pacers, Jazz or Rockets
@RomnysGonzalez

Why would they do that? Why trade your picks for a Veteran who doesn't match the timeline of their prospect?.

Beal has not accomplished anything of significance, especially not for the Wizards. I do not see how he deserves a max contract.

The top dogs with the most money control the media narratives and the top free agency destinations. This is why player autonomy is so important and please don’t let the powers that be convince you otherwise fellow fans

Wizards are one good trade package away from being 4-9 seed and last time they were a 6 seed it was a great playoffs :)

Does it really even matter ? Every team can not build a super team. Everyone wins when you think about it. Players wins, the teams sell tickets, blah blah blah. I want more super teams, this forces teams in smaller markets to build players up.

Fun fact, Jalen brunson grew up in Chicago area and spent a lot of time in the city.... Then all of sudden he moved to the town next to me for basketball with out any questions being asked why a inner city kid just moved to a suburb

It would be tough being a GM in the NBA and I understand they have to spend money and they have to try and win or else they are fired and its not like the NFL or MLB where you can get good players deep in the draft every year. Getting a major elite star like a LBJ,Curry,Giannis...etc is so hard and rare and takes alot of luck. Thats why what golden state and Milwaukee has done takes alot of luck and patience. Cant believe Beal gets 50m a year!

I think every player should get the bag every chance they get, it's tough being in the NBA for so many different reasons... If it works out good, if it doesn't move to the next one... It's a multi billion dollars industry and not every team is going to win, so I am fine with teams paying the players even though they won't win anything, at least gives the players some incentive to go all out every game... Every team has a chance to win hypothetically...

“It really wasn’t about the amount of money,” Cuban said. “We really didn’t get a chance to make an offer. It was Jalen’s choice. And I understand it. He knew those guys his entire life. He grew up there. It makes perfect sense.” Cuban doesn't believe Brunson's decision was one made with money being the priority. He will have the opportunity to initiate his new team's half-court offense, play for a coaching staff that includes his father, and be in the largest market in the country. “No hard feelings,” Cuban said. “I wish him nothing but the best. You bust your ass and you have that choice. He deserves it.” source: Sports Illustrared
