My dad was sick with tonsillitis once and this plant was recommended, after boiling and garling the tea the tonsillitis was gone within a few hours. Amazing.

I am in Trinidad also and I am not 100% this is ginger Lilly. take a 2nd look at the flower. remember it has numerous varieties. leaf looks like it but I am ah bit shakey about the flower. just trying to be sure. what do u think.

We have that on our property in JA-. It’s from the heliconia family, along with ginger, turmeric and about 3500 other varieties. Costa Rica has the most varieties from this family.

Wow! We have plenty of this plant in Eastern Nigeria. As kids when ever we feel thirsty and there's no water around, we just cut them and chew for hydration. It's very good. Really juicy. In my native language we called it 'opere. There's also a medicinal use for it that I forgot.
