I am blown away with the camera angles and attention you pay to details, allowing us to see such neat shots. I can see how mowing out a pine orchard is so appealing. It's amazing how it makes it look - a continuation of your yard into the woods. The J Bar is no slouch when it came to eliminating those bushes... one second they were there, the next, gonzo. Some of the best drone footage I've ever seen in a channel like this. I just had to comment and tip my hat to you - thank you for sharing this wonderful content of your lives.

Honest question, will using a tractor potentially compact the soil enough to harm the trees? I'd like to plant a pine forest on some new property but don't know much about clearing or maintaining the ground after planting.
@jaquigreenlees
3 жыл бұрын
No, the soil compaction won't hurt the trees. If you want to start a pine forest, check around the property to see if pine is growing anywhere near your property first. If not, then the soil may need to be tested and adjusted to support the pine. Not usually an issue, pine is very easy to grow but better to check before, it is easier to make changes to soil composition before you plant if it is needed. If you have a fairly dry and sandy bit of land you could test to see if it will grow Arbutus trees. They are actually an endangered tree species with limited area they grow in so if you can cultivate them you can get some financial incentives from government funds. They are known as a "brittle hardwood", useful for fine cabinetry detailing like rosewood is used for. Not so good for structural use though. The berries are edible, apparently bees love to use the pollens in their honey and it adds a nice flavour. They also have a unique thing when grown, they lose their bark. The tree keeps on growing, just without bark on it. Weirdest thing I ever saw, a street lined with them and no bark on the trees.
