Oh I loved this video! I think you captured the joy of it so well in the beginning clips there and so agree - running along in the outdoors and it feeling effortless is one of the best feelings you can get. Great content!

Great video James. It is lovely to hear the joy you found in trail running. I ran my first 100k trail run in 2019 and your video brought back those feelings. I think this is one of your best videos, thank you. Keep up the good work 😀🏃🏽♂️.

Nice. Love it James. I am coming over to the UK in May 2024 to run the London to Brighton 100 as it has held my fascination for a long time so I thought, dang-it lets do this! Thanks for posting mate love your work!

Thanks Shaun! Very exciting. It looks like a great race. I've watched films of people running it in the past. Very satisfying running point to point races.

Awesome! You love the process rather than the destination. The joy you describe is pretty special

Best wishes for the race! Can very much relate to your love of ultra trail running and the sort of relaxed culture that goes with it, not stressing about pace or time and such. It's really great

Run with Joy!! You should try this in a race some time. I wonder just how different your time and performance would differ?

Yeah, no idea! Maybe I'll just go off feel one day and see how it goes. I suspect I'd set off too fast but might work out.

I'm trying to get into trail running (but very slow and very short runs!). How do you find trails/where to run?

Hi Amy, great question. I find the heatmap functions on strava or garmin are really useful for seeing whether other runners go. Typically people will run the nice well maintained trails so the map functions can be useful to map out routes. I also sometimes use OSmaps to check whether a path is a public right of way or not - I've accidentally run onto private property in the past without realising it. There are other websites that you can use to map out routes - some use Kamoot, I often use Plotaroute - using the trails map shows you major trails like the south downs way. Hope that helps and hope you enjoy the trail running!

I've found many trails through dog walking! Ask friends/coworkers with dogs where they go... you can often find local hidden gems that way!
