As a Mexican I have loved this short. I would pay for a Duolingo animated series! Regarding this issue, the question of "tú" in Spanish is nothing compared to regionalisms. My gringo friends do get stressed there because it depends on the region you go to from a Spanish-speaking country, words and expressions change a lot.

@@lyndsayms Yes! The most know example is the word "coger" ("take", "catch", "pick up" in english, depending on the context). In Spain, has the same meaning as in english. But, in Latin America, is a colloquial way of referring to having sex.

In Colombia, at least in the part where I live, we use the three: Tú, Usted, and Vos. Depending on the situation, you could say that Usted is the default one because it shows a respectful distance and keeps the conversation very formal, but for the same reason, it can also be used when someone is angry or uncomfortable because it shows that distance, shows that you don't want to be closer with that person. We use Tú when we want to denote closeness, love, a strong friendship, etc some people may feel awkward with this word especially if you haven't known each other for long or don't have such a strong bond, and well "Vos" is even more informal is used when you're joking with some friends, it denotes closeness as well, but in a less serious way, like when you are having fun or having a good time. But of course, this can vary.

As a native Spanish speaker, I loved this video. I'm so sorry, but I want to suggest something. 1. This is really easy if you only focus on the country/region of the person you're talking to, since even me, as a Peruvian, don't know exactly how it is in other countries. But in case you're a non-native Spanish speaker, wondering if you should use tú/vos/usted with a person, I guess you could ask something like: "The word usted is formal, right?" or ask if any of the other words are formal, since "usted" is for friends in some parts of Colombia and "vos" is for friends in other parts of Colombia. The other person maybe will realize you're trying to ask if you should use usted/tú/vos in your conversation, and if, for example, they want you to refer to them as "tú", they will probably say so, even if you don't ask directly. You could also tell them about how you're struggling and don't know which one to use in general, and they will likely tell you. 2. The last question, if you are still treating the person formally or at least trying, you should say "la/lo puedo tutear", since "te puedo tutear" is informal, lol. But I still recommend doing it the way I proposed.
