I have one that I wanted to put on my heat pump and try out but I didn't have enough room in my cabinet. I took it apart and looked at the relay they are using. Its a small relay rated for 30 amps and claim its now rated for 40 amps. My problem is the size of contacts on small relays like that. They are rated for 30 amps but for how many cycles? The instructions say they have done something to make the contacts last longer but I would be curious what the patent says they done. It does provide under voltage protection and short cycle.

Cammon man, always turn the supply fan off when changing the air filters out, if not all that dirt/dust is going to the evaporator coil. You should know better than that. I always wondered how those fins got damaged on the evaporator coils, now I know. This is a heat pump and you said, you had to add a fan cycle switch, was it bad or you added it to the factory circuit. Please clarify. Thanks. I am a retired/ disabled tech, still learning.
@HVACRSurvival
3 жыл бұрын
When I was messing with the filter the coil was frozen into a block of ice? Is that what you're talking about? Far as the fan cycle switch, I wanted to be able to run the unit in low ambient conditions in cool mode. The problem is when the system is running in heat mode, the pressures will be naturally lower when it gets colder because the condenser is now your evaporator. You want the fan to run all the time in heat mode so the relay bypasses the fan cycle control while in heat mode. I added this to the factory circuitry. Keep in mind, this rtu used to have a economizer that worked and now it does not.

Welcome to America, we're just slowly now getting those waygos, at 30 some cents a peace it's kind of hard to get the employer to buy those when were used to using wire nuts, I have no control over that sort of thing.
