2 years and 2 weeks later he dies. That feeling when you mourn someone you never met other than trough the tv... What he did for the reptiles and other not so commonly loved animals was more than anyone else. His true love and enthusiasm was contagious. He's still missed.

Yes. Not many people know was that Steve was just about to be honoured with a honouree doctorate from the QLD university . Not because of the usual "Hey lets give this celebrity a doctorate because he will bring us some publicity." But because he worked on and developed better ways to help track Crocodiles in the wild. He also brought massive tracks of untouched wilderness areas to preserve them from developers/ mining, through out Australia and Africa.

Steve himself was not an educated man, he came from a line of croc "relocators", which were and still are an unfortunate necessity where crocs can come into contact with people, pets and livestock. But I thnk Steve would be tickled that many people like you have pursued higher education in such fields because of the connection he was able to make especially to children around the world.

Too bad Steve couldn't stop that real bad habit of his. He just couldn't stop grabbing & handling every wild animal he came across. Wild animals don't like that shit. You can watch them, talk about them, film them, then just leave them untouched & they'll generally leave you alone. Ever hear of a Stingray attacking anyone without provocation? That Stingray was most likely just swimming along, minding its own business, and good old Steve couldn't resist messing with it. What a bummer.
@nerblebun

Michele Huffman How on Earth did you determine I'm heartless for stating the obvious truth? I'd wager I've done more for animals in my lifetime than you ever will. I've taken in many stray dogs, cats, even a few birds & turtles over the years to give them a good home. I still donate a considerable amount of time & money to Needy Paws.... a NO KILL animal shelter in our county. So, go fuck yourself sonny boy.
