5 ай бұрын
@vinjulieann1 actually, no, not fully at the time i commented, so thank you. anyway, what’s done is done. and i wrote something on another comment which i am copying and pasting here, since i feel the basic points still apply. TLDR is that i do feel more empathy than i did at the start of the video even though i had already heard of this woman previously, and i do still take some of her story with a grain of salt (aka some doubt, such as the actual number of children), but i understand why she wasn’t originally educated on/allowed/given/using and bc methods. my copy and pasted part: just because she produces/releases many eggs does not mean they must be fertilized! this is where the story with that loses me. it’s probably partially the healthcare system there to blame claiming she’d die if she didn’t reproduce/give birth. that’s entirely bullshit. anyway, besides birth control and abstinence, there’s such a thing as a hysterectomy. also plenty of women go their whole lives having many many even heavy periods (aka releasing eggs) and don’t have a child to count for every cycle. i understand why her chance of multiples would be higher due to this condition. i do not understand how it extrapolates out to giving birth at least 16 times (except for her husband’s role). also, not that i’m advocating for it, but plenty of women in similar situations perform abortions on themselves. some women have been so desperate as to give birth and then let the baby die or even kill the baby just to not have them grow up in whatever insane conditions. so. idk. i just feel like something could have been done or different. but what’s done is done and i understand that a child bride does not have much say in the matter. however i also don’t 100% believe the numbers of children she’s touting (and exactly 5 sets of each - quintuplets, triplets - really?). no one has FIVE SETS of naturally born quintuplets plus more! and then lives this quietly/obscurely at that? i just don’t buy it. i’m not saying it’s 100% out of the question or untrue but it is hard to believe hook, line and sinker.

Their society and culture is far different from the West. We don't get to apply our standard to the rest of the world. That's called colonization.

there’s always someone worse off and better off than you or any other situation. it’s not a competition for the “worst life” or who has it worst, and one person’s life struggle does not negate or invalidate another person’s challenges. anyone can have it rough and everyone experiences their struggles differently, so something that might seem insurmountable to you is normal life or a workable challenge for others whereas something you deal with might be something someone else can’t face. one person might be very poor but live happily while others are very poor and love very horrible existences. something you take for granted is probably something someone else wishes for, even if you think it’s nothing or something that you maybe even rather not have. for example, plenty of people wish they could have just one child, here this woman claims to have over 40 - she may be impoverished, but she does have the support of at least some people in her community (and the love of her children), which is more than some can say, and she has tight housing but housing none the less. some people dream of that. she is able to stay with them and she may wish she had time to actually spend one on one time with her kids or at least a smaller more manageable group, but some people have no time at all to spend with their kids, whether their fault or not. idk just some examples of how while everything can be compared, not everything should be or is equal enough to be. and for every one thing this mother wants, while someone else does already have it, someone else wishes they could have what she already has, etc.

It's truly amazing to see the dedication and unconditional love that a mother has for her children. This video serves as a reminder for all of us to appreciate and cherish the relationships we have with our loved ones, no matter the challenges we may face. It's important to be patient, understanding, and supportive, just like this incredible mother. Let's all strive to be more compassionate and loving towards others, just as she has shown us. ❤😊

She must have the strongest system ever! I have chronic fatigue syndrome and literally can’t wrap my head around her. Bless her and her children! What a hard life she’s had, yet she smiles often and what a beautiful smile it is!!! I hope that Audible gave her a lot of money because how disgusting if people make money off of these videos and don’t give most all of it to her!!!

I have the utmost respect for Miriam, she is amazing. I can't imagine the things that she went through when first married to a man so much older than her own father and not having her mother to talk to. The fact that she has been such a good mother to all of her children is remarkable. A GoFundMe for her children's schooling would do wonders for that family and at least for many months out of the year she wouldn't have to work quite so hard. To see all of them smiling is so heartwarming!

I have 3 kids and sometimes I feel I cant give enough of their needs. yet, here's a mother taking care of all of her 40 children by herself. I feel ashamed of myself. THANK YOU, Drew for sharing her story. Many parents can learn a thing of two from their story. I know they all struggle, but they perceiver and help each other. May God bless Mama Uganda's family.

It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed at times, especially when you have multiple children to care for. It's important to remember that every family's circumstances are different and comparison is not always productive. Mama Uganda is definitely an inspiration, but it's important to remember that every family has their own challenges and strengths. It's great that you are able to see the value in her story and learn from it. Keep doing your best for your children and remember that your love and care for them is what truly matters.

Okay, after hearing her story I have a whole lot of respect for her. Some women can't even take care of one or two kids and here she is able to clothe, feed, shelter, educate and give her love to 40+ every single day AND work. Amazing mother. She deserves a whole lot more support.

I have a feeling these children will have a better life because the father abandoned them. Now he can't refuse them education nor marry them off. When women rule, social change progresses. On another note, it's amazing so many children actually eat their meals and are smiling. The social service hell we have had with our 7 kids hating each other, not eating, not wanting to do school work etc.
