It would have been nice to see the full episode, but I suspect that she’s looking for attention… and she gets it when she misbehaves. Certain behaviors can be corrected by ignoring the dog. @@K_Y_S.. 0:34 is a great example. She said "no" gentley and pushed the dog away from the broom. That's how dogs play. She should have either said "no" a little more forcefully (not yelling, but a tone that says "I mean it") or the trademark Victoria "Bap" (a vocal correction). Ideally she would have already started "leave it" training to be applied here, but that can be learned later. She should never have pushed the dog or pulled the broom because while she's saying "no," her body language (the main way dogs communicate) is saying "play with me."

Honestly! My family's first dog was a Bernese mountain dog. She was a pleaser, and very non-confrontational (it took her a few years to learn to stand up for herself towards other dogs). My mom has raised her with a firm hand because I was only 10 when we got her, and my mom wanted to be sure that I wouldn't get walked over within 6 months when the dog would probably outweigh me. So we thought we had a pretty good grasp on how to raise a dog. Then we got our German shepherd. He's the sweetest, but he's the polar oppositie of our BMD. He's way more energetic and stubborn, and he's not afraid to stand up for himself (if a dog barks at him, he'll bark right back). It took us a while to adjust.
@angelinacamacho8575

I raised my besenji mix during lockdown and it wasn't easy but was possible. We were able to go on long walks still and most stores didn't mind him coming in as long as he was in his papuse/hammock and that's how he was socialized. Taking him to the dog park was also good since there were other people and dogs there to play with (they had a strict no aggression rule and some owners would even stop potentially aggressive dogs from entering) he also took cues from my 14 yr old lab who was very well trained and socialized (I adopted her when she was 7) and taught him how to behave appropriately.

I've got my labrador (first dog ever) for 2 years now and I've been walking her 2 times a day at minimum before and after my work. I'm an independent courier from Belgium doing night deliveries in Germany and Netherlands and since I've got her as an 8 week old puppy, I've taken her with me every night. They're 18h drives every day and lots of deliveries in rural areas so she gets to get out and play/explore a little while I unload and when it's time to leave I call her (or play with her a little depending on schedule) and she hops back in. I think that so much exercise, the routine of my job and being together for 24h a day (she even sleeps on my bed lol) makes our bond indestructible. I might be a little soft on the boundary side though. But at least I got her to realise that jumping out of a window, walking on roads without me etc is a definite nono. I swear though, I was cursing at myself for adopting a puppy 2 years ago since I had no time at all... but I told myself that it was my responsibility and my choice in the end and I just had to figure out to adapt my lifestyle to implement a dog into it. I probably watched all of Victoria's videos and her advice has helped me a lot. And right now... I don't know if I'd get over it if I ever lost my dog or if anything bad happened to her. So strange.

In a way, I am glad this show did a reboot back in late 2021 as you know this was and still is a popular TV show to watch when it comes to training/learning after an animal. At the end of the day, these animals are a life commitments to your family, not a toy thing or whatever you want to call the situation. This is why I have been watching this show another KZitem channel called 'Animal Watch' on how to train/look after a dog especially a working line dog as GSDs need a lot of training from a puppy to their adulthood. I would pay good money to take a future dog/puppy to a animal training classes as they mainly need the training, honest exercise, socialising, and bonding from the start.

Im not an expert, but I do have a dog. What you can try doing is make a new person (neighbour or anyone new that your dog hasn't met before) stand in front of the foor facing away from the dog. Let your dog bark, Ik it can get too much but let him know that him barking is not going to get him what he wants. When he stops/pauses, quickly introduce him to the person. Basically what im trying to say is No bark= Meeting the person. Repeat as much as you can, Hopefully he's soon get the cue. Good luck, say Hi to your pup from me :)
@alexloz9174

@@shreetamabanerji308 I'll give that a shot but I don't think it's more so that he wants anything hes just using his eyes and not his his ears or his nose yet he'll use his eyes and see a familiar shape bark at it and then when hes able to sniff it or hear it then hes like "oh I know you never mind"
@livi6886
2 жыл бұрын
If you want him to stop barking, the first thing you need to do is figure out why he is barking. If he is barking because he wants the person to come closer or leave, have the person stand still when he is barking and move closer/farther away (depending on what your dog wants) when he is quiet. You can do a similar thing depending on why he is barking. The goal is for him to learn that barking no longer gets him what he wants, but quiet does.
@veramayer9571
2 жыл бұрын
The easy way out: curtains or window film so he can't see through the glass door and be triggered. Alternatively, pair a new cue like "scatter" or "cookies" with treats scattered in the grass until he reliably starts sniffing around when he hears the magic word. Then get a helper to move on the other side of the door, and just as the dog notices the movement say the scatter cue and sprinkle high value treats just in front of him. Rinse and repeat. You're probably already doing this, but I'll add this just in case: make sure he gets plenty of enrichment, particularly for his brain, as this may be one way of telling you he needs something to do. Food dispensing toys, scentwork/nose games, trick training, agility... and also decompression walks in a natural setting.

He now behaves verry well and it he never got scared of it and he stil likes belly rubs so it really isnt as bad as it seems if done right. redirect those bite onto something more appropriate. dogs learn with their mouths, they also dont have hands and their mouths are their hands, so allow that. the more natural behaviours you allow in appropriate situations the more the dog actually has control over himself. yelping isnt helpful in some situations cos prey animals make noises and they will just see that as part of the fun YOU are not a dog and yelping wont create the same emotional result as a yelp from another dog. turning and ignoring can work on some dogs, but it isnt always helpful either as that behaviour has to go somewhere and ignoring normal behaviour doesnt teach them when/where is best to use that behaviour. plz remember all behaviour is normal and communicative, if you dont feel that it is then you'd probably best going to a vets.
