Bryan Habana is now retired. From my knowledge, his Provincial teams was, first Golden Lions then Blue Bulls then Stormers and then he finished his career in France, playing for a club called Toulon. He was at one point the highest paid Rugby Union player in the World. He represented South Africa 124 times and scores 67 tries (highest International tries for a South African).

10.1 for a 100 meters on grass, dude! Not artificial turf or and Olympic running surface with spikes. Thick grass with Rugby boots. Bryan was and still is the king of speed!

There are players that wear light shoulder pads. But there's an IRB limitation on weight. And backline or injured players usually wear it. You'd never Eben or Thor or Bakkies Botha wear those things.

If I'm correct Habana hold the record for most tries scores for the Springboks, if think Makazole Mapimpi still active and playing is second for most tries scores. I might be wrong.

Shoulder pads is not usual in Rugby. Shoulder padding reduces the risk of superficial injury, but there is no evidence that it reduces the rate of more serious injury such as dislocation, rotator cuff contusion, clavicle fractures or more severe AC joint sprains.

No he retired a while ago. There was a guy who played for USA who outran him once but Habana wasn't as fast anymore. The guy was a born Zimbabwean though and Habana was caught on the back foot and had to turn to chase him.

As an FYI, they do not have to dive to score. The ball needs touch the ground in the goal area while under your control. Diving would make it more difficult to tackle the ball out of your control in the goal area

A player has the choice to wear shoulder pads, but nothing compared to NFL pads.. In comparison, it's like the 'helmet' you see them wear vs NFL helmets.. I may be mistaken, but I think years ago some team's jerseys came with it.

That's not what you think of when you say 'shoulderpads'. There are very specific Laws about what can be worn. There can be nothing made of any hard material. Even the buttons on uniform are made of rubber. That's merely foam rubber about 1/4 inch thick. I don't know why anyone would bother wearing it. All it really does is soak up sweatt adding extra pounds to carry as you run a few miles in a rugby match. You know those knee braces that most every NFL players wear? You will never see them in rugby. They are made of metal and have hinges. They might support knees but they can also cause long jagged cuts to anyone's body parts that come into contact with them.
