I have flown the full size Beaver, and you would not....... No could not, fly one anywhere near like that. I admire your flying skills for sure. But in my opinion, and thats not set in stone. A scale aircraft should be flown in a scale like manner.

If we wanted to fly in a scale manner, we'd fly the full scale. ;) We're quite happy making foam aircraft do things the full scale counterparts can't do. That's why our channel exists.

You really dont need to be that carefull with the plastic gear servos, nothing will ever break in the air. It really only makes a difference for crash resistence and servo play. The forces on the the control surfaces of these foamis are not even close to be too much for a normal servo, plastic or metal.
@TwoBrosRC
Жыл бұрын
That's unfortunately not lining up with our experience. We've had metal servos strip from high-G maneuvers in the air. This isn't an uncommon experience for aggressive piloting and it's something that has to be discussed when producing a review of a model for total disclosure.

That's exactly what I'm planning if I get one. I've already got a couple of different sized ones for another project that would be perfect for this guy. That and a smaller, lighter battery and tossing the crappy plastic servos and this should be a really good little flyer.

If you don’t mind gutting things a bit you can get the CG further back. I cut the foam out all the way back to the control board in the back. The FMS straps actually hold batteries quite well. I just use the back strap alone and push the battery all the way back to that board.

They haven't sent it to us. Right now we're trying to dig out of a hole of credit card debt that piled up after two years of buying models for the channel. If Arrows sends a MiG to us, we'll fly the hell out of it - if not, we'll probably pick one up within a year or so.

Hey Jon! Great job as usual!. I just received my FMS Beaver yesterday. Unfortunately the elevator servo was stripped out of the box. I'm quite impressed. That thing has more than adequate power, it lifts gently and easily and it's very versatile. I think I'm going to have to get one to add to my collection. I will junk the plastic servos, glue some things that wouldn't normally so I won't be stripping it down to transport but, tail sections and various other critical components will be that much stronger. I'd also replace those silly hard wheels with a couple of soft inflatable balloon type tyres I've got that are bigger but should make it much smoother landing, especially on bitumen AND, a SMALLER battery. I'm happy with a slightly shorter flight time and just have extra batteries and be charging more or less on a multi port charger once landed so I can go as long as I want, just taking short breaks in between. I hate flying them any heavier than is really needed and rather than trying to shove a battery that's bigger than I need for about 7 minutes at a time flying I'll simply use a bit smaller battery as pretty much everyone I know flies too nose heavy in my opinion. I do love the way that was flying and with minimal modification I think I could really enjoy flying this thing.
@TwoBrosRC
Жыл бұрын
Happy to hear that! Consider picking it up via the links in the description. It helps us out a ton and makes it easier for us to create content like this for you. If you're going to upgrade the servos, we'd suggest Hitec HS-85MGs.

@@TwoBrosRC Would love to and may do in the not too distant future. At $460 US and being in Australia that translates to more like $700 AU or more and then the insane shipping costs from the US to Australia so, it might have to wait till things have settled down here a bit. It is definitely the most desirable model I've seen in some time. Thanks for showing it off so thoroughly.

It's not as easy to hover as a Timber is because the CG isn't neutral like we can get on our Timber. We'll experiment with it and see what we can do on the final review.

Well that's a pretty beaver. Does every plane have to be flown 3D style. Some planes are just nice for mellow scale flying and shooting touch and goes to get that landing down perfect looks like you could try that. We all know that you can 3d the shit out of everything
@TwoBrosRC
Жыл бұрын
C'mon Roy, you should know us by now. We don't just fly them the way they should be flown, we're also about seeing what they shouldn't do. That's part of how we review things. The idea that people fly in circles or do basic aerobatics isn't really reviewing the model's potential. We want you to see what its limits are so you know what you're getting into if you decide to purchase it.
@lorditsprobingtime6668
Жыл бұрын
I'd call that an ideal revue. You got to see ALL of it's power, flight and stunt characteristics. What more could you want? You saw if float away super gently, you saw several landings, including riding it on just one main and you DID get to see it can fly mellow scale flying. The rest of the potential customers want to know ALL of it's abilities and also what it doesn't do well and personally I'm happy and would and probably will buy one after this. I DO want it to be able to do all that plus scale like takeoffs and landings which we saw it's quite capable of, just ideally with bigger and softer tyres. I don't even understand why you'd complain, it showed it can do what you want and a lot more, that's a good thing.

@@reckemroysrc3764 Absolutely! After the great review they did I absolutely will. It will be a while before I can but, I really like models around that size and this seems a great compromise verses one purely scale. I like the little blades to catch that bit extra for knife edge etc. This seems a pretty ideal all rounder, I'll also get the floats if they're available when I do as I've never tried water takeoffs but where I am now, it's not only an option, it's probably the best option for here. Going to put bigger soft inflatable tyres on mine too. I was a bit surprised they'd use such hard ones on a model with such rigid LG, easy fixed but a pity we pretty much need to, at least if we want to land on bitumen or concrete.

Depends on the loads you give it - enough G-force on a control surface will do it though.
