The listed years for the Metroid timeline are not to be taken seriously. Fed Force says it takes place in 20X6, but then the official website says it's taking place several years after Prime 3, which would mean that Prime 3 would be before 20X5 (timeline placement of Metroid 1/ZM). This can't be, because Prime 3 takes place after Prime 1 which takes place three years after Metroid 1/ZM. Going by listed years for any of the games isn't reliable, especially considering our only source for the dubious 20X7 year for Super is a very old Japanese trailer for that game.

@QrazyQuarian
26 күн бұрын
Okay, so I watched the video, and I have to say a couple of things. 1.) Your theory actually makes sense and I'm onboard now. But because all amateur theories start with, "iThiNk TiMe TrAvEl iS iNvOlVeD", maybe don't start the theory like this right away next time because it was an immediate turnoff for me. Bring time travel up *after* you throw some evidence of things like event horizons and the shape of the logo first. Because that's what really got my attention. 2.) I think there's a lot of ways this can go if time travel actually *is* involved (and I agree with you that it very well might). For starters, let's look at the sudden change in storytelling philosophy since Metroid: Samus Returns. There is a shift in ending the Metroid aspect of the Metroid series, where "Metroid" refers specifically to Samus, who is herself now a Metroid in more ways than one. There's also a shift in focusing on Chozo storytelling and revealing, very slowly, more lore on the Chozo civilization as a whole. Metroid Dread does the heavylifting here, but Samus Returns does some as well. And Chozo lore is not nonexistent in the Prime series, as their lore is dumped everywhere all over Tallon IV. If time travel is involved, I have some theories regarding the Chozo--specifically, I believe the planet we see at the end of the trailer... Is a young Zebes. Consider the massive tree. Who lives in trees? *Birds.* We could easily see a time on Zebes where the Metroids were first being engineered to fight the X Parasite on SR-388. Which again, could also be the planet we see. 3.) Because this involves Sylux and his recent obsession with Metroids, and as you pointed out he only has "Mocktroids", he may want the real deal and is time-traveling, using the Federation's assumed time travel tech we see them carting off, he is going to different points in time where powerful Metroids are encountered. This includes the Queen Metroid, the baby Metroid--and, most importantly, the titular Metroid Prime. I do believe that Sylux is attempting to revive the Metroid Prime to use for his army. This point in the Metroid timeline will see the Space Pirates in complete flux, as all of their leaders have been killed after the events of Super Metroid. No more Ridley, no more Kraid, no more Mother Brain, and no more Dark Samus... Sylux takes control with the promise and common goal of destroying the Federation and recovery of the Metroids that have since been destroyed by Samus herself. With this in mind, Sylux specifically understands that whomever controls the Metroids, controls the fate of the universe. And why *wouldn't* you try to control the strongest of the Metroids? Even if there is no more phazon, Prime herself is still powerful and not necessarily reliant on the substance; we see her get phazon only to become more powerful, not necessarily to satiate hunger. And furthermore, Sylux can find ways to produce pseudophazon. 4.) I also believe that this game will be used to definitively separate the 2D from the 3D Metroids and officially create two separate timelines. Watanabe has specifically stated that he doesn't consider the Prime games to be canon. This is how he and the Prime fans can both get what they want, by considering Prime to be canon and not at the same time. It's genius, really.

My ongoing supposition is that timespace already bends as we see it. Think about relative time and time dilation, when you approach an object, it's distance approaches infinite. So you go OUT towards it, the black hole, and never reach it. But this would also consistently bend relative ANGLE, like a mirror image through a spoon. What if OUT, in space, is the CENTER of the universe? You approach the center, and it feels like only going further into outer space. This would mean, that IN towards "the center of the planet" is actually DOWN. Time space only wraps the DOWN to appear to us like a sphere planet, because it's the REVERSE TIME DILATION. We still can't dig inot Earth core because the MASS is in the way, but it's actually because the pressure invites in all that mass, it's FALLING DOWN... into a gravity well. This would also perfectly explain Pacific Rim. The Kaiju don't teleport from "another dimension", they climb UP, out of a dimension of THIS time space that opens at these gravity wells, where planets form out of the debris spilling out. MAJORITY OF UNiVERSAL MASS would be UNDER the singularity in the core of every planet, which is why space appears so empty. We only SEE space because there's nothing there in the way, when we look AWAY from the core where all the mass is. And every planet is also connected to each other when without suffering time dilation it would appear like a flat surface. Planets in space are only like tippy tops of high mountains, peeking out from the "waters" of very dense mass.

Also, maybe Samus defeats Sylux at the beginning of Metroid prime 4 and in a desperate attempt to survive, uses the time machine to go back to k-2L to end Samus before she becomes a bounty hunter. This would be great because we never see her origin story in game as of yet, only through the manga. So you would play Samus as a teenager after being taken to zebes by the Chozo. We see zebes in 3D for the first time and Samus in training with a basic power suit given to her by the chozo. While trying to stop Sylux, she would obtain all of her trademark power-ups until she finally becomes the Samus we all know at the end before the final battle. This would be a lot cooler than Samus getting jumped or injured losing all her power-ups again. My college friend is working on the game. No. Stop. Stop placing Prime 4 after Super. You are going off of incomplete information and pure conjecture. Mochtroids do not delineate timeline placement at all. They are the result of failed cloning due to a lack of two things: no phazon, and no mother brain. Phazon was a mutagen used to create new metroids. So with phazon done for, the pirates had no means of cloning new metroids. Prime 4 may very well exist in a void between prime 3 and Super, where the only metroid clones we see are all mochtroids, with the revival of mother brain being the end of mochtroid production (she's the one that used beta rays and created new genuine metroid clones from the baby metroid). As for Super taking place in 20X7, that came from a Japanese commercial in 1994. There is more recent material that contradicts timeline placement of the games, a commercial from 30 years ago is hardly evidence of Prime 4s timeline placement. STOP saying Prime 4 taking place after Super is a sure thing, because it isn't. You and Rule of 2 Review are both making wild claims over terribly bad information. The possibility exists, but it is far from definitive. It would have to take place between Other M and Fusion if it did. But Samus made note of the Space Pirates being defeated in Other M. So to have a whole armada of pirates showing up with a ship that looks like it came right out of prime 3 would put an end to any form of permanence in the franchise.

@@weatherman1504 I admit I over exaggerated and should've mentioned Hunters. But the reason I didn't was because Hunters was originally on handheld. So when writing the comment, I thought that calling it a Prime Hunters game would be underwhelming for a game that looks so good. But it can not be a mainline numbered Prime game since there's no Metroid Prime. Unless Sylux somehow becomes the new Metroid Prime in this new game, the name should NOT have a 4 in the title since that would require the namesake to be featured, just like the other three main series Prime titles. Metroid Prime has been featured in every main series numbered Prime title after the first game until now. That was literally the whole point of the series namesake. Hunters was just a side story. So unless there's a new Metroid Prime that isn't the same one from the previous trilogy in this game, this new game can NOT canonically be Metroid Prime 4 since it has NOTHING to do with Metroid Prime. The more I thought about it, more I realized this game should've been Metroid Prime Hunters 2 Beyond or just Metroid Prime Beyond without the 4! Calling it Metroid Prime 4 when there is NO Metroid Prime is like calling a 2D Metroid Metroid without at least one being that's at least part Metroid. Every 2D Metroid has had it's namesake featured. Metroid Zero Mission and Samus Returns had multiple SR388 Metroids. Super had the baby Metroid from Samus Returns. Fusion has Metroid clones, plus Samus being part Metroid. And Dread has Samus with her Metroid powers and even a Metroid suit at the end. So unless there's a new Metroid Prime, Sylux becomes the new Metroid Prime, or Samus somehow obtains a non phazon version of a Metroid Prime suit, this game's title being numbered makes ZERO SENSE! It's NOT main series because the main series is over without Metroid Prime! Calling this game Metroid Prime 4 just shows that the only reason it's numbered is due to fan demand for a Metroid Prime 4 after it had already been stated long ago that they never planned or intended for another main series Prime game since the main series of Prime ended with Prime 3. The story involving Sylux wasn't supposed to be Prime 4. This only happened due to fan demand. There was never supposed to be a Prime 4 canonically! Only more spinoffs and side stories continuing the Prime series! That's literally the whole reason why Federation Force existed before "Metroid Prime 4"! This game is literally just non-canon fan service at this point because the sole reason it even exists is because fans wouldn't shut up about it. It's literally made and titled as it is, solely just to shut us up about it. It is NOT at all canon to the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Unless they change the name, it is pure fan service!

@@weatherman1504 I literally acknowledged the fact that Sylux's story was planned to continue. But it wasn't originally supposed to be in a fourth numbered main series Prime game. It was supposed to be in another spinoff or side story game like Hunters and Federation Force. But one that continues the main story after Prime Trilogy, but not numbered. The main series Metroid Prime arc is done. It was confirmed when Prime 3 released and it was confirmed again in the mid 2010's when Tanabe expressed interest of continuing Sylux's story as proven in the video. There shouldn't have been a Metroid Prime 4. That was never the plan until the mid 2010's due to popular fan demand. The scrapped Bandai Namco version of Prime 4 was probably going to be a soft reboot retconning the events of Prime 3 so that fans can have the Prime 4 they wanted. But it Tanabe was against the idea because he wanted Sylux to be the main focus, so that's likely the real reason why development was restarted and handed over to Retro Studios. But keep the 4 in the title due to pressure from the fans expecting "Metroid Prime 4". It was even speculated in the past by people that there was chance that Nintendo might drop the number. But in the end, we still got the number because the Metroid fanbase is stubborn and won't accept anything that isn't 100% exactly what they were told or promised. Speaking of, the fact that you even mentioned the idea of Beyond leading into Samus Returns is proof of the worst of that stubbornness with the unhealthy obsession over a timeline that hasn't been canon since 2010, and even officially dead since 2016 & buried 2017. Federation Force takes place in 20X6 CC and Samus Returns takes place in 20X5 CC, the same year as Zero Mission. Even Dread has pretty contradicted the old timeline by acting like a certain familiar blue energy is new to Samus when if Prime were still set in the same place, the energy shouldn't even be there or at least she should've been able to recognize the energy. And Beyond is confirmed to be set in 20X9. That's FOUR years AFTER Samus Returns, which is 20X5. I doubt they'd have multiple different 20X5 years because that'd be confusing. But despite this, you people keep believing in a timeline that is literally long dead and forgotten by Nintendo at this point, after like at least three releases contradicting it. The timeline has officially changed but you can not accept it. It was bound to change eventually because back when it was thing in the 2000's, the series was still very young. Now, with more releases, Nintendo has a better idea of how they want the timeline to be. The same thing happened with Zelda. Yeah, more drastically overtime from pretty early on. But that's more due to that Zelda has multiple generations of the same main characters. While with Metroid, there's still only one Samus. The Metroid games do tend to take story and lore more seriously than Zelda because of that. But at the end of the day. Even with Metroid, gameplay comes first. Nintendo doesn't really prioritize story and lore as we want them too most of the time. That is literally the whole reason why their franchises' timelines, especially from early on, are bound to change later. Early timelines never stay canon, especially for Nintendo franchises. Capcom does a better job at being more consistent. But their consistency isn't always a good thing for the timelines of their franchises. That's why Nintendo, while they may not be the best, they're definitely better at timeline handling because they want avoid inevitable future contradictions as much as possible. Hence, why Nintendo game timelines change. Even for a more serious story and lore heavy franchise like Metroid.

This would place Prime 3 several years before 20X6, aka some time before 20X5 (the canon date for Metroid 1). If you read what I wrote, you would know that this is impossible, because Prime 3 objectively takes place after Prime 1, and Prime 1 mentions the events of Metroid 1 (the destruction of the Space Pirates' original Zebes base) and is thus after Metroid 1. Are you following so far?

@@groudonor12 Ok, for both of our sanity, I'm gonna hold off on further discussion of Prime 4 until either October (I'm replaying the Prime series for spooky month) or 2025 closer to the release date. Discussion is too heated for my tastes at the moment and it'd do everyone here some good to grab some hot cocoa and take a breather for a bit. See ya in 2025, take care.

Or an even wilder theory, sylux is just a way future Samus, going back in time to try and revive metroids because the marines have betrayed her one too many times. So she has to go back and try to get around her younger self, which is why sylux seems to have a vendetta against samus

Is it possible that Sylux IS Samus from another timeline?

No because there's a picture with all three: Adam, Sylux and Samus smiling together in a picture frame..

I like a lot of the ideas presented here but pleeeeeeeease don’t lead to a timeline split, I don’t need Zelda timeline shenanigans in Metroid. The series for a while has had probably the cleanest timeline of any long running Nintendo property, and I think a timeline branch would sorta ruin that. Time is such a complicated concept so I hope it’s more self contained to this game.

I am ok with that, I can see it being more of a situation where Samus is fighting to maintain the balance of the universe and not letting Sylux or even the Federation upset that.

@@AndresRestart perhaps but time branches can easily make parts of the lore very messy very quickly. We’ll have to wait and see what happens

A number main series Metroid PRIME game without Metroid Prime? Yeah, I'm not buying this game! Should've just called this game Metroid Rivalry or Metroid Hunter and the marketing would be so much better and totally worth the buy! Nintendo doesn't how title games properly anymore apparently! So for that, Nintendo gets big fat F and no more money from me!

@PJCVita92 There's a popular theory that 'prime' refers not only to the titular metroid, but the camera too. Prime = first = first person camera view.

@@shadowtman27 That's interesting theory. And it does make sense. But Prime also means main focus or something or someone of a great of significance and/or relevance. For example, a Prime Minister is more important than a regular minister. Plus, they're a leader. Maybe in Prime 4, we might see Sylux become a Metroid, making him the new Metroid Prime. I really think that they should still keep having a story reason for the title than just the camera. Especially since it's numbered. Hunters and Federation Force got away with just the camera because they're just side stories of the same series. But the numbered games are just too important to not have a story reason for the title. And since Sylux is the big bad now, they should turn him into a Metroid so that he then fills in the titular role now. Making Sylux the new main Metroid. Remember that Sylux is obsessed with Samus. He likely want to mimic every aspect of her and even her former enemy like her. The original Metroid Prime managed to become like Samus, so now for Sylux to become like her, he probably might try to copy what Metroid Prime did to do that by becoming the new Metroid Prime. He's someone who'd be that desperate to be like Samus in every way possible. In that one promotional image we got before the first trailer, we saw a shadow that has been speculated to be Sylux with a suit much like Samus'. But upon seeing the trailer, we see Sylux in his normal suit. Perhaps, that shadow was spoiler for what's to come later in the game. Maybe they are three a phases of Sylux. The first one is his normal self, second is Metroid Prime, then towards the end, he steals Samus' strongest suit in the game as the original Prime did, entering his third phase and final battle in the game, where Sylux is not only a Metroid, but also looks like Samus, just like the original Prime. And Samus must find a way to defeat him with whatever she has left. Come to think of it, this makes me think of a whole idea that maybe there might even be a whole section at the end where we might even play as Zero Suit Samus as she must find a new suit in order to defeat Sylux. I imagine some stealth being involved in that section too, much akin to Zero Mission. And the new suit could be like a smaller, slimmer, and more flexible version of her chozo suit, allowing for more mobility. So that, not only does Samus have her defenses and strengths back, but she retains the more agile movement of her Zero Suit. Thus, allowing her to evade attacks from enemies and bosses more easily as she move and jump around much faster and fluent.
