Not sure how well that works as I haven't tried that myself, but may be a good option for those that don't want to solder. Psp was my go to device in high school. My ds broke the hinge with normal use. I tried to repair it with my family and it broke. We were poor and I told a friend about it. He told me he was selling psp and I got all money I could buy selling things to get it. So I enjoyed ds first half of life cycle and psp the other half. I remember playing on my modded wii xbox psp and ds I used flashcard. I made the most out of every console I had because I was poor. I still got games for Christmas or birthday. I wanted to play as much as I could growing up. I watched movies at school after work and on the bus. I would listen to music on it. I carried two batteries because I used it so much. I played games like assassin creed bloodlines early that is sequel to first game. I still bought games when I could like crisis core and gta games. It was impossible for me to support all these games growing up. I ended off with my senior year getting 3ds and flashcard. So I caught up on all the ds games I was missing out on because the poor build quality. I used my psp so much it's legit broken. Memory card is super slow it's been beaten up so to me it's has a special place in my heart as probably my favorite portable system. I got vita and sadly haven't enjoy that much out of it. I got steam deck and it really has been my go to over everything else. I bought over 1500 games on steam so I have huge list of games I still need to go through. Love of gaming has never died and I wonder if it ever will.

I think i managed to bodge it for a bit by wedging the ribbon onto the connector but it would only work for a few minutes before failing. But my soldering skills are sub par at best. Of course there's always emulation on the Steam Deck. Even if text and FMVs don't always scale that great. Worth noting that while the 2000 and 3000 models do have more RAM, AFAIK it's only being used to as a buffer to speed up UMD load times. It's definitely worth it if your screen is broken. But if not, I won't bother swapping tbh. Psp-1000 screen is almost the same price as the ips when I was looking for a replacement screen so I went with the IPS. Actually it was cheaper when I ordered compared to an OG PSP 1000 screen. PSP 1000 was my favorite up until recently when 8000mah battery was made possible on the PSP Go and the microSD mod is made easier.

I obtained some electrically conducive PAINT. This works awesome on bridging situations such as this. Try it! I even saw a kit like this that included silver conductive paint.

I had a PSP-3000 years ago. Anyway with used PSPs the biggest concern is the battery. Often you see the batteries getting puffy.

The foam is around the screen so dust that gets inside the chassis can’t get between the screen and the front shell (presumably also/multiple reasons)… but it SUCKS if you skip it and dust gets in there

For such a small solderbridge conductive silver paint may be a simpler solution for those who are not trained to solder small parts.

Oh yeah, whoever doesn't know the PSP is a very good little media machine. You can download, play, and watch movies and music and the PSP had a button where if you turn it on those buttons wouldn't do anything. It'll basically be a lock since the screen doesn't officially turn off. You can use that when you're listening to music. Put it in your pocket act like it's mp3 player and you can also download, play and watch movies and music on the go

The PSP "3004" (the real last one before sony shat themselves with the psp street) has an upgraded screen and mics. I've compared my 3004 with many modded screens and to be fair, my 3004 screen is already amazing. I think I will leave it like this. However yea the older PSP screens are very bad

I still use my same PSP 1000 with the same old battery. It only lasts about 2 hours now which sucks, but it’s still useable. I’d love to put in a new screen/battery 🤙

I wonder how this new screen stacks up to the PSP Go's screen. I have both a 1k and a Go and the Go's screen is already miles better than the 1k's.

Thanks for the video. I will go with the 500 nits display. The reviews in the internet show, how really bright the 1000 nits version is. If somebody likes to play, like me, in dimmed rooms, even the lowest setting seems to be much too bright.

the psp was fun while i used it and even moded it so that i could play some homebrew ports, but that all went out the window with i got my vita. i now have that moded and its now my main use system if i want to play any sony games up to vita. This is still fun to go back to but i wouldnt invest in this mod since i wouldnt use it that often.

I've got one cheap with the screen totally dead. I did some 3d printing, made space taking off the umd and showing an arduino, and now I just playing with it trough the av component and using an arduino (where the umd was) trough a dualshock 2 to play games as an static console

Any good speaker mods out for the PSP? The device has rather clear audio but it is quite low in volume. So basically a volume boost without causing distortion.
