Great comment Michelle. My grandfather was a master builder and died before I was born but passed some of skills down the line to my late Dad and then on to me. When you see a worker putting on a respirator, safety glasses, white jumpsuit and gloves that means one thing. Abatement. Lead, asbestos, and/or mold. That is going to eat up a percentage of the budget for sure. However, with two little kids, you need to be sure that they can grow up healthy.

@@austinhamann704 you realize when people say "removing walls is expensive" they're talking $5-10k for a beam most of the time, not a new BMW. it's the same for expansion framing. so long as they only put new finishes in new expansions you can make a tiny house 2500sqft for an extremely cheap 15 year mortgage.

It kills me to see the garage demolished like that! My garage doors are old, and that one is WAY prettier, the regualr door is nice, and I need one for my garage, and the roofing under the shingles, are really nice, and mine are all messed up from the old owners using old/used not matching, types of wood. I think this show is great, but I wish they worked with people who don't have tons of money.
