I loved this so much that I only listen to the Swedish 🇸🇪 version , learned the lyrics and can actually sing along with almost all of the lyrics even though I’m Dutch 🇳🇱 and don’t understand any other Swedish

As a swede i can assure you that the english translation on the video are spot on. (unlike the english version that changes the story a bit). That makes it wild to me, how hard this cuts and how poetic the swedish can be sometimes, to tell such a story in lyrics, which has to have a certain rhythm and cadence.
@494Farrell

The English version is a good listen and has its own place talking about the tragedy of the overall conflict. But this one just hits different, so much more impactful and personal, and this performance is just incredible, the chorus with just drums and clapping is one the most powerful bits of music have ever listened to.

I have been in the crowd for this song at least 5 times, i can say the hit in the feels is different live, you don't well up in the eyes, you well up with pride that you and several thousand others are basically singing praise for fallen warriors of any time really. This is why sabaton is special, i have been to their own festival 5 times and each time they played this, people from so many different countries sang this in swedish. Also, Joakim (the singer) does not have to sing a SINGLE word in this song, if you just listen just a little you can hear how the crowd NEVER stops singing. It is amazing live.

One of the best reactions I have seen. The interaction with the crowd in this song is electric and immense. Sabaton has the rare ability to reach into your soul, pressing all the emotional buttons, making you feel pride and sadness for those who sacrificed all for their homelands. I saw them at the Ryman in Nashville, and they didn't play "En Livstid i Krig" but they did play "Gott Mitt Uns" in Swedish. We didn't do a very good job singing along though. best concert I ever attended. (Epica was awesome as well).

Glad I clicked on this. Don’t know them. But this is beautiful. ❤ I hate wars but I love soldiers. Those are brave people who decide to protect others by risking their own lives. ❤ And I mourn for all the parents that lose their children because they were sent to fight other people‘s children. (Sometimes for no good reason) 😢 Samaltau by Dimash is also sung from the perspective of a soldier who doesn’t know if he will ever see his country again. There are also additional circumstances, but similar emotions. The song is also hauntingly beautiful and sad.

This song, this performance, these lyrics are phenomenal - we all agree on that. This song touches me so much that I have to be in the right frame of mind to follow it. Every time I watch this video, I am humbled. It gives you so much, although it also makes you very sad that it even exists. Is there anything more meaningless? Hopefully there will be a time without wars...

Nice reaction, I was at this show (sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage). Just before this clip started Joakim said no one carries around a lighter anymore but you all have phones right? So turn on your lights for this one. Then at the start he said totally wounderful, my friends, let's sing together en livstid i krig. They had sold out the arena for this show so we were 10766 metalheads in the arena and needless to say, it was one hell of a show.

The best music lecture I ever went to was on Arnold Schönberg's String Trio. It involved a string trio playing the piece then the lecturer giving a lecture with the trio playing excerpts then a second play through. The amazing thing was there were SEVEN students in the auditorium and that included me who wasn't a music student. So playing the full song again has a great pedigree in my books.
