Hola, mi plan es por una semana porque quiero ir creando hábitos y agregar más actividades. Quiero hacer 1 hora al día 1. Utilizar anki 2. Ver una capituló 3. Y dependiendo si tengo tiempo, aunque creo que lo haré para todo el día sería leer o escuchar un audiolibro. Vendré en una semana para ver cómo me va 😊

I've been trying to make a plan for two days. This is my plan 1. Read articles from NatGeo Education 2. Add new words into Anki 3. Review them regularly and mark the struggling words and jot them down in notebook

Great start! I'd suggest adding a few more things to that... What time of day can you do each task? Where is the best spot to start? What words will you add to Anki (everything new, words you've seen at least once)? What makes a word count as "struggling?" Are there any other new activities you want to try? Remember to try things out and change them as you learn more about how you learn. And I look forward to seeing your updated plan! - Ben

@@Refold I changed my plan because some of the articles were really tough. I didn't want to be burned out, so I gave up. I'll return my first plan. I bought four books (English Vocabulary in Use, Beginner to Advanced) the other month, and I studied hard and managed to finish two of them. But unfortunately, I felt burnt out when I started the third book and decided to change my plan. I tried a lot of different things, and I haven't known what I am doing ever since. I'm returning my first plan, and I'll try to study hard and smash the third book too.

You didn't give up! You recognized your current ability and put them aside for the future. That's great! Best of luck with the other book, but remember that vocab is really learned through interacting with the language. Focusing on spending more time with the language to find those words over and over again will make it all a lot easier, and probably more fun. Nice work recognizing what is and isn't working for you.

my general plan which will be changed and improved over the next week is : ---} Immersion ---} Getting new vocabs ---} Reviewing the new vocabs ---} Passive immersion. this process is daily, i don't know the max hours or the min. But as a starter 1 to 2 hours a day. (2024-09-17).

Hey great content as always! I just want to put out a suggestion. as a viewer, watching the main content inside a little viewbox feels kinda weird? like there's all that dead space around the box. it's really a minor thing and maybe I'm the odd one out who doesn't vibe with it haha, otherwise thank you for the good content and keep it up :)

Thanks for the suggestion! I've actually been wanting to try that for a while. Part of the reason is that my camera doesn't have the... highest quality ever. But I think it's definitely worth trying for a video or two. - Ben

I actually like it, seems more polished and professional and not just some youtuber who tried an app once.

Okay I'm learning japanese and up to this point I was doing pretty much only anki, some grammar study and learning about the methods of language learning (I should know ~1200 words, but it's probably about 700 of them that I am confident with) so it's high time to start immersing. Plan I came up with: • Every day at 7 a.m. (2h language learning time block): - 30min anki session - up to 30mins of some grammar priming and/or kanji study (watching cure dolly's videos, reading tofugu, RTK etc.) - 1h of immersion trying to find newly learned grammar & vocab (mixing intensive & freeflow immersion, but making sure to remain focused and include at least some intensive intervals of looking up words and trying to understand the sentences) • Rest of the day: - remaining anki cards (if there are any) during commute, on the toilet etc. - listening to a podcast while doing something else unless I feel the need to be in silence (to avoid irritation and keep it fun) - any additional immersion if i feel like it • Bare minimums: - enough anki revisions throughout the day to make the next day's due revisions manageable (no new cards) - at least one japanese youtube video (or other native content; ~10mins) •Moving on in the near future I will: - try to allocate more time to immersion when it's going to be a lil bit more comfortable - set up and start sentence mining and making anki cards out of them (after I complete core 2k deck) - implement some more reading into my daily immersion - maybe start learning kanji individually via something like wanikani if I'll feel like it's going to help me - find a way to set up some tools for videogame immersion (to be able to quickly select and look up words etc.) - translate some songs with help of chat gpt trying to understand the sentences and learning the vocab along the way (maybye not the best idea to do that, especially this early on, but I seem to really enjoy it so it works for me) - from time to time test myself on some jlpt mock tests, listening practice vids on youtube, or coming back to the content I consumed earlier to see the progress which in turn will probably help with the lack of motivation that we all sometimes experience

Hello, guys. I want to learn English. This is my plan for the next 200 days: Totally time: 2 hours at day. 1.- About 8 am, I revised 10 words in Anki. (30 minutes, take this activity) 2.- Then, I used Busuu, I did 3 lessons. (30 minutes, take this activity) Then, in the afternoon, or after work: 3.- I watched a series or movie with subtitles for about 1 hour (I think that this is passive immersion) It's all. What is your opinion about my plan? Do you think that is the perfect learning plan? After the 200 days, I want to add activities like reading a book, practicing mining with videos on KZitem, and shadowing. But I'm trying to take it with calm. Sorry for the mistakes in my text :) Happy Immersing!

I responded in Discord as well (which you saw), but if anyone reading this comment is curious... Looks pretty good! But, you're currently spending 1 hour+ on "preparation and priming." And then only an hour on watching TV (which isn't passive. Passive is when you're not paying attention. It's not useful for language learning). I would replace either Busuu or Anki with 30 minutes of reading with a tool like LingQ or Lute (or even just a good ol' book). And when you're watching tv, I'd also make sure to look things up, pause and take your time. Looking forward to your update in 200 days! - Ben

What is the second resource you recommended for reading? Loot?

Lute. It's a LWT/LingQ type tool. It's currently still very much an "alpha" tool, but if you're comfortable with tech, you can install it from the guy's Github: github.com/jzohrab/lute It's fantastic when you get it up and running! - Ben

This is great. I’ll be passing on this clip to a couple of people i know who keep asking me about how to learn a language (their eyes then glaze over when i start to tell them my ideas).

How long are u watching with subs and without subs. Are u doing the 3:7 ratio or something else
@ericksoaresbarretovaz
Жыл бұрын
@@justinly3418 frankly, I’ve never worried about ratio. I just do what I enjoy and works for me, although it may be less efficient. at the end of the day, You must do what maintains you more consistent and that’s it.🫶🫶🫶 still, most of my hours are on listening. it’s inherently easier to do than reading since I can make time for it, even when I’m busy

Looks quite strong! The only thing I would comment on is the "passive immersion" time. I wouldn't recommend thinking of that as being part of your plan. It's totally fine to do when you're not doing anything else, but it won't really affect your abilities unless you're actually paying attention. But keep it up! If you've already gotten to understanding over half without subs, that's awesome. I look forward to your update on your plan in the coming weeks. - Ben
