Buchteln
Ingredients:
280 ml lukewarm milk
100 grams of melted butter
1 egg
70g sugar
1 vanilla sugar
32 g fresh yeast (three quarters yeast)
Approx. 500 g flour
A pinch of salt
For filling:
Nutella
Or jam as desired
For painting:
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon milk
preparation
In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast and all other ingredients for the dough together and knead into a smooth, soft dough. Milk and butter should be lukewarm. Cover and let the dough rest for about 30-40 minutes. Now divide the dough into 15 balls.
Roll out one ball flat, fill the middle with Nutella or jam and shape into a ball. Put the Nutella in the fridge a few hours beforehand so that you can fill it more easily.
Grease the bottom and edges of a casserole dish or baking dish (mine 36×24cm) and place the balls in it. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
Whisk the egg yolk with milk and brush the balls with it. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees top and bottom heat on the second rack from the bottom until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and serve warm or cold, dusted with powdered sugar.
Info: You can also just brush the Buchtels with melted butter and bake them.
