High pressure system in the Pacific SW will create what I call a “Ring Of Fire” pattern with a NW flow over on the top of the ridge. This NW flow could feature an active severe weather pattern, and could be in the form of Mesoscale Convective Systems that could evolve into derechos.
Areas that should be keeping a close watch for SEVERE STORMS: Northern Plains, Midwest, Ohio Valley, and Great Lakes
Areas that should be watching for HEAT: Pacific SW, Southern Plains, Central Plains, and the southeast
DERECHO: A long lived particularly intense line of thunderstorms that typically is bowed out producing severe winds 58+ miles per hour for 200 miles or more. Winds could reach over 100 mph in extreme cases.
