She is the Angel that has answered her Calling! I just recently retired from 17 years as a Home Health Aide with Hospice and I enjoyed going to see pts everyday. Never felt like I worked a day in my life! I plan on staying retired for a at least a year to get caught up on the 'honey-do' list that I got behind on during the lockdowns, then go back on per diem basis. At 62 yrs old , I feel like all i did was go and meet and make a new friend that allowed me to enter their lifes' journey for that day and I always felt so very Blessed for being in the Moment with that person!

@missmissy_90 yep I understand that. I did all that crazy OT in my younger days and ended up with arthritis in my back, knees, hips and a nice stroke as the effects of long term stress and beating up my body taking care of others. She has a loving and noble heart, but at the end of the day it will come back to haunt her. I have lost a few colleagues like her at work just drop dead. They get replaced before they are even buried. Sad state of affairs.

I've enjoyed every episode so far. I rarely go to the ER. When I have its because I've had a stupid accident at work. Many of those times, even though I've come in by ambulance, once I know whats going on I'll tell the nurses to do what needs to be done and I'll just take a nap. Except for February of this year. I was getting into my car heading for a Dr. appt when I broke my fumier . That time I wasn't going to be number 4 on the list. I did have a new nurse that was helping to get me out of the car tell me to stop screaming. We were a hospital and its a quiet zone. I still remember telling her I didn't give a fuck where I was at it hurts and screaming helps. The other nurse told her to go help so and so. 9 months later I'm still recovering. I've had a few set backs but at least I'm moving around.

But since I’ve been down in PACU these lovely nurses almost always just get blood through the IV. When I was on the floor though most of the nurses relied on the techs to do all their lab work. I’m pretty sure I could place an IV better then some of the “baby nurses “ on the floor. 😆

I LOVE smiling my way through a GI bleed😅! You can't react to it, most patients would feel bad about it, even though they can't help it. I had a patient the other day, young woman, who couldn't hold her bladder and was sooo embarrassed. I told her she wasn't the first, won't be the last, gave her a clean robe and helped her get cleaned up and acted like it was nothing (it really was nothing), and i could see how it lessened her embarrassment and we were joking around and she was smiling a few minutes later. I ❤my patients and treat every single one the way i want to be treated. Even a "difficult" patient. You never know what they might be going through.

Done lots of those long work days in a row. Not in health care, but working in retail. I worked two jobs year round and a seasonal job three times a year. Did that for 5 years. Often worked a first shift at one job, and then a second shift at another job. And sometimes worked both first and second shift at one job in one day due to call offs and being short staffed. (Still occasionally do this at current job). At one point i went three months before havin a single day off. In those 5 years i think i only evwr called off twice. Both times was because i got really sick. When ya broke and need the money, u just take on as many hours as u can.
