Personally, I think she's wrong because what I've noticed is that people who don't want to be there and cause drama even in front of managers get the promotions. In fact, they can be proven straight-up wrong, but they don't care about wrong or not. For some reason, they're going to pick the lazy people who complain about their job, and the other workers can usually do circles around them, but they're the ones that are turned down.

You know, it’s easy to get annoyed with those chatty extroverts who seem to be wandering around the office all day. But honestly, they do bring some important skills to the table. They’re usually great at networking and building relationships, which can really help the team in the long run. Plus, their communication skills can be a big asset when it comes to keeping everyone on the same page and pushing projects forward. On the flip side, introverts often shine when it comes to focused, independent work. They bring a different kind of strength that’s just as valuable. It’s all about balance, really. While it might look like extroverts are just socializing, many of them are actually recharging and staying productive in their own way. A good workplace values both types of personalities and finds a way to let everyone thrive. Promotions usually come down to a mix of skills, contributions, and how well someone works with others. Both introverts and extroverts have their own unique qualities that can make them great candidates for moving up.

I understand what you're saying and I agree. But you need to be extremely confident and experienced in being an initiator, communicator, public speaker, and a promoter of your company and it's product to be in a high level role. This involves giving presentations to dozens or hundred of people multiple times a week. These traits are pretty much the exact opposite of an introverted personality, which will make the executives hesitant on promoting said introvert into upper management. There are many ways to overcome those specific situations at work as an introvert, but if they can't express those traits during their interview they almost always will be overlooked for a more outgoing person with the same work experience.

Anyways I got two job offers on the same day so I left my previous job before the three month was up. This job I accepted offer is a promotion. I’ve seen that sometimes when someone is really, really good at what they do, and because that makes management look good, that person may be passed up for a promotion because the company doesn’t want to lose that talent in the job that person is so good at. Especially if that person is better at a particular thing or is more experienced at something than anyone else. These people are often used by managers to teach others because the managers can’t even do what they can do. So, if you are really good at what you do and think that will get you a promotion, it may actually hurt your chances more often than not.

This is a topic I hold close to my heart. Yes, extroverts have some skills an introvert will struggle competing with. But an over the top extrovert will irritate a person who's an introvert. Especially if there isn't the skills to back it up. And an introvert will recognize lacking skills faster than an extrovert. So if the key person on the hiring panel is an introvert, now the scales are balanced out or possibly in your favour. Problem is, im assuming theres less introverts in positions that put them onto hiring panels. Key takeaway... Know the personality of the person hiring. You might not need to adjust that much. The advantage for an extrovert is in roles that require leadership traits. Team building, moral, encouragement, approachability, coaching, development, and supervision to some degree. My advice to an introvert who might be aiming for such a role would be to practice being more extroverted. Start it now, not when the job comes up. Its too late then. I'm going to get eye roles here, but hear me out. You're never going to be that person who talks to everyone you meet in the elevator or that can natually stand up an give a block buster speach by just winging it.... But you probably dont need to be. it doesnt take all that much improvement. Believe it or not it's a skill you can build. I speak from personal experience. Start by practicing with extroverts one on one. Strike up conversations. Talk about them, ask them questions. Practice showing interest, and keeping the conversation going. Listen to what they tell you, take mental notes, and use thise details for questions in future conversation with them. Get used to conversations. Practice eye contact. Extroverts are great for that. They generally talk to anyone. It builds your confidence talking to people. Its going to be more mentally exhausting at the end of the day than your average work day to start with, but it's going to get easier with time. Also consider studying personality profiles such as DISC. And learn how to identify and interact with the different personality profiles. It will make your interations more rounded and beneficial. Hang in there my introverted brothers and sisters. Many introverts have done this. Remember that your advantage are focus, ability to learn, and effeciency. These are items extroverts sometimes have struggles with. Use your advantages to develop your communication skills.
@jimmbear3998

From my own experience, I don’t agree with this. Yes for low level customer service related type positions, happy extroverts are an easy choice to get hired. However, once you get higher up a lot of other factors play into it. For example there was one woman who was very talented and well liked and very educated. She was a manager and a happy extrovert and everyone thought she would be promoted to Senior Manager. However they promoted a less talented man who was more introverted that had more years with the company. Years later the talented woman was a Senior Manager but wanted to be a Director but they didn’t promote her. So she left the company for a Senior Director job at another company. The company then replaced her with a different man who they made Director which was odd as they wouldn’t promote her to Director but then promoted a less talented man to Director. Also in another situation being a happy extrovert ended up being bad thing. There was a temporary employee who was a very happy extrovert that was a lot more talented than most of her peers. Seeing this some of her peers badmouthed her to the boss so that she wasn’t made a permanent employee.

"If you're on the anti-social side..." Um. Being an introvert isn't being "anti-social," thanks. Although, of course, we know some dictionaries include "not wanting the company of others, but let's get serious: everyone knows the immediate definition that comes to mind, at least in America, which I suspect is a huge portion of the audience for this video, is in line with a psychological profile of an antisocial personality disorder. That could have/should have been phrased as "If you're on the quieter side," or "If you're on the more private side," But then, extroverts, happy or not, tend to just blurt out whatever comes to mind as opposed to thinking through how a word or phrase might have a negative impact on someone...

Our problem is not the personality, it is what the promotors been train in what they want to be attracted to be popular to be grab on to in the communities. Therefore, the whole chaotic concept is put in the growing up minds, by what the people being taught starting out on the first day of school. That help us grow into the behavior we are experiencing today. Who train us to keep adding destruction as being a smart career point to put the person in a better position, which we see who get the most ratings with their career by the things they perform. The strange thing about it, that it become a popular thing for the people to do, as one moves around in the general public. That help take control of our minds in creating the system personality. Is why bad acts are common, and good acts are strange. See the promotors tell their clients what will sell, by every network fall in line with the system to promote it, which make it easy for the client to fall in line with the system. Who see nothing wrong because of the common sense factor been long gone, when their generation grow up to play in the game. See the new young promotors can't see they doing anything wrong, and their clients can't see they doing anything wrong. Because everything is about success, no matter how they get their, or how many people the system allow to be destroy. Which the system don't care because it creates more jobs, in creating private prisons, rehabilitations addiction institutions, and counsellors in the system. It's hard to figure out the right, and wrong factor in this country.

I have an applicant who is very good at the job, she's excellent actually, but she responds very negatively to things not going how she thinks they should and then refuses to admit to me she isn't happy, but vents to the team. I respectfully disagree with your premise. Your ignoring the prospect of other types of reasons: (1) Managers playing favorites; (2) Filling a quota; (3) Seniority System...

Interested in what other people are convinced of too. I've noticed if you're attractive, relate to others (you think like the average person) and talk a lot then you'll be considered management material -- as long as you do good enough work. Focus on getting to know the other managers until you're considered one of them

I’m actually a happy extrovert but I almost always eat on my lunch break. Come in early and leave late almost daily. Help out everyone in the office and still manage to keep my clinical studies afloat. Sometimes it’s about balance if that’s possible for your work load.
