Your class is very helpful and interesting. I have been working on Czerny and the virtuoso pianist without knowing what they tend to do. Now I understand that virtuoso builds coordination while Czerny builds hand independence. Thank you.

I really enjoy the idea of your channel. You give amazing advices from begginers to advanced players and show that music is for everybody. I've learned the first steps on piano during the pandemic and I'm coming back now and your channel gives me a lot of motivation because you teach with so much joy. Thank you for that, and congrats!

Key areas I work on are piano technique, especially fingering, music analysis, and memorization and articulations (artistry) to bring out the beauty of it all. Also level 3 classical pieces and I study and play Jazz. Being older now, and with the current state of things, I am not as consistent as I would like , which I need to work on.

Speaking of hand independence, playing with swing rhythm in a hand and/or alternating accents can help with some tricky sections. More importantly, Bach's inventions are actually very taxing, and wouldn't go into them without prior toe dipping in counterpoint. In addition, a jump from inventions to the Well-Tempered Clavier is not a good idea. I'd say to at least try and play a few Bach Sinfonia's (which are like harder inventions) because they're 3 voices which makes them challenging but easier than fugues. And the answer to your question: I'm currently not working on anything, and won't be for a while.

Why aren't you working on anything? Did something happen? For context, I was taught to do inventions first then WTC but I see your point. Doing some Sinfonia's would be a good idea before a lot of the material in the WTC. There are some Minuets in the style of Bach that have very basic counterpoint as well. Thanks for the input as always.

I'm feeling like I'm at a plateau right now. My instrument is probably the biggest factor in this, as I cannot properly work with it. I have to do much more work for the same result I'd get with a better instrument. So I will probably wait until that does happen, which might be a year from now.

So for the Czerny sheet music, the bottom treble clef is played with the left hand? Why wouldn't they just make that a bass clef?

The best thing that I've found when learning the Piano. Is to find a teacher that actually cares about your progress and not about how much money they can make from an adult student. Too many teachers in my country of Australia just don't put in the effort for adult students, and use them as a source of income. Whilst not being able to deliver the required content to progress a student. There are lots of scam Piano teachers in Australia that just use Piano lessons as a con job. Great video tutorial by the way.

Hi John, Tim is great, organized and thorough. However, I finding Piano Adventures, Randall and Nancy Farber's program to be very helpful and Graham Fetch's Online Piano Academy are also accomplished classical artists as a good foundation to branch out with other styles as well. Try to use this perspective to try and find what suits you. Explore and enjoy the journey. We are so lucky. You definitely will progress with consistent persistence. All the best!
