Super cool plane, doesn’t taxi the best in grass due to not having much weight over the nose. You can see why the real ones make such a good trainer into fast jets

It may not be the most efficient way to do yard work. But, it damn sure looks like the most enjoyable way.

I fly mine on 5s sometimes 6s with the FMS Voodoo 3948 900kv motor in with Hobbywing 120A esc. Got rid of the 5 prop and use either APC 11x10 or the more scale 4 blade with red tips and the P39 black spinner. Very quick and one of the rare 1.2m birds that can carry a very large lipo and handle it well. This and my Nanchang are my take out every trip prop planes.

It's definitely fun. A shame it's not interesting to the YT audience though, hence why it's not drawing a lot of views. Unfortunate given how good it is!

had mine for about 5 years and I fly off a very well manicured grass runway with cg set 95mm back from leading edge.( knife edge ok for me at this cg) Takes off half flaps, lands full flaps, fly it in. I have my 3000mah 4s 40c lipo set totally forward of cg to achieve book cg of 90 to 95mm so I feel the battery position shown in manual is not correct to achieve this. I replaced nose leg with oleo suspension leg. I installed FMS 3648 870 kv motor 58amp 850watt with the stock 5 blade prop. Fly mine in slightly nose down, touch of flare and it will land on 2 or 3 wheels. Out of interest you might try it with cg at 95mm and see how it will fly for you ?

I extended my battery tray forward another 2”. That eliminated the ballast I had to add to the nose. I fly with 4S 3300’s. I switched all the landing gear struts to the Yak 130 struts. Clipped off the ends of the main gear doors. They would catch on the grass and break. If I didn’t really like this airplane I wouldn’t be rebuilding it after an incident. I don’t fly it with gyros. It doesn’t need one. It is a stable performer.

Great video Jon. How would you compare this to the RV-7 with the same wingspan.
@TwoBrosRC
Жыл бұрын
There's no way for us to compare it since we haven't flown an RV-7 in close to two years.

I have had this in the box since last summer and just putting it together now and also using an AR8360T. What is the CG where is flies the most stable?
@TwoBrosRC

There's almost no place to put the battery except right over the straps, so a 2200 to 4400 should balance almost identically.

Does this plane fly somewhat like a Pattern/F3A plane?

No idea, we don't do that kind of flying or have any interest in it.

@@TwoBrosRC OK. But IMHO, SMOOTH, PRECISE flying IMAC and F3A maneuvers are just as challenging and rewarding as 3D - again IMHO...😉
