More than a century ago, Burlington's German population established the Harugari singing club and constructed the Goethe Lodge in the city's North End. The building is now known as the North Star Community Hall, and over the course of its history, it's become a community hub for dancing and entertainment. Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Stephen Perkins and Local 22 & Local 44 anchor Mike Hoey stop by to learn a bit about the building's history, and what the future might hold for it.
Note: since this installment aired, the organization has changed its name from The Champlain Club to North Star Community Hall.
This Place in History is a collaboration between Local 22 & Local 44 and the Vermont Historical Society.
