This is one of the most refreshing Porsche-lover's attitudes I've seen since I, myself, at the age of 18 years old, was cruising on or tearing up those beautiful back-roads all around the Canadian country side back in 1972, with my 1959 Porsche 356. A double thumbs up to this wise young man. ;--} >

This is what the old car hobby is and always should be about. Its about bringing something back from the grave, giving it a new life, and then enjoying that new life together. Its WAAAAY to common to have shows always be about the money, flipping, and investments. I HATE that aspect of about 95% of car tv shows. I am not really a fan of Porsche cars, BUT what I am a fan of is this guy's attitude! How much money is your classic worth?? WHO CARES!!

@Dethmeister

“Just get it running. Drive it. The time is now!” I really like that and the car. I have a ratty old 71 Dodge Polara and I was enjoying just driving it but then an electrical gremlin got into the brake lights and they didn't work %100 of the time. My brother does the mechanical work to keep it going for me but after many attempts and new parts he gave up on it. I took over and after much troubleshooting somehow got the old parts working after the new parts proved defective. I got it to pass inspection and was driving it again but then the exact same problem reoccurred. I was so disappointed and frustrated that I've just let it sit for a couple of months but this has inspired me to go at it again.

I love everything about this. I live in an area full of Rubicons and TRD Pro’s whose tires have never bent a blade of grass and this man is driving along the ragged edge of a mountain and on to the top in an almost 70 year old Porsche so small I could reach out the window and strike a match on the pavement. And I always notice when I’m at car shows there are people who brag about how few miles their cars have (which is a damn shame) whereas the old Porsche folks are like idk the odometer broke maybe a decade ago around 70K and they’re currently on a 10 state road trip

+Axel Nussbaumer It's been a trend for a while. It's not uncommon to gently wash the rust/flaking paint and then clearcoat satin over it just to protect the patina. You can always tell when they do that though. Great to see a true, honest, evolving patina. So many spend tons of money to preserve the "zero f*cks* look that they lose authenticity.

In 1974, I was 17 and in High School, I bought an early 1957 356-A, (it had factory fog lights and “beehive tail and front signal lights, like yours). The previous owner put a Super 90 motor, (103 hp) and Speedster transmission (close ratio 3 & 4 gears-BBAB-perfect for the street). Only took it on the paved roads and highways. It handled like a dream, but you didn’t have to go fast to feel it. Probably because of the flat (now they call if Boxer configuration) 4 cylinders. Never “drifted” it but I did go 100 mph, (w 4 girls in it) once. Proud to say I never got a ticket while driving it.

This channel is what the hobby is all about, is about the feeling you get when you are behind the wheel A car, it doesn't matter which kind it is, how much it costs or the state that it is in. I really want to see more stories like this. More actual STORIES about the cars and less Q&A with the owners. Not to say i don't love the content you guys at Petrolicious always put up, I just love cars like this with proper character. Cars that would look right at home in a movie like Mad Max or Dukes of Hazard. When the owners get a legend of a car and thrash it in the dirt, or when they get an underdog and out-do the legends. Its fun when a car or an owner does something unsuspecting, and thats the best thing about some of the videos on this channel. I just wish more of them were like this! So good!

Coming from videos where they restore these to perfection the first thought that occurs is "holly monkey, he's killing it", but then you sit back and watch the video, and you see what his thinking is, you see what he's doing with it you enjoy also enjoy a very well put video with a lot of awesome views. And then it kicks, you want these running, whether on one end of the spectrum or the other, you just don't want them in the middle, IE someone butchering them or someone parking one in a barn until old age and rust destroys it. And then it's all ok.
