Never even thought about battery life. But I can't reduce my controllers quality for battery. (Haptics/trigger and speaker). I don't sit far away to play, I'm just in my room at me desk, so charging while playing isn't a problem at all. Plus I do use headphones when I can so the speaker thing takes care of itself. I could get a decent 8 hours out of my controller with my settings and I've had my stock system with its controller for about a year and some change. It still works amazingly without any issues. I'm not sure if the analog stick issues or anything else is result of missuse, overuse, faulty manufacturing or a combination of all 3 buts its still interesting to me that we are having these issues nonetheless in 2023 when it comes to these expensive ass controllers.
@dmaskell92

@@guthetanuki256 Yup, the main issue with the analog sticks is the graphite potentiometers from the factory. I have come to the conclusion that those potentiometers are just planned obsolescence to sell more controllers since literally all of the major manufactures are using them now. This is why I call them a scam, at least we have companies like Gulikit trying to do the right thing and use magnet sensors Dreamcast used 20 years ago. It doesn't matter how you use the controller, although hard use will cause the graphite to wear down faster.

Personally John, every time I play on consoles I prefer my controllers wired. I can't fathom the idea of having them wireless like I used to with the Xbox 360 since some TVs, especially the ones that are above 50 inches, no matter what mode you use on the TV, even for gaming, I still get a second of lag and it's much easier wired considering the amount of frequency and wireless connection interferences you get from laptops, smartphones, bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi, and even the Radio itself. So every time I want to play on my sister's console or my older brother's console I always have my controller wired for better performance and much more quicker and faster controller commands to the game and back to my controller compared to having it wireless. So for me I never have my controller run out of battery considering I keep it wired all the dang time, and my cable for the controller is nearly 15 feet long, enough to go from the couch or chair to the console without tugging on it and I can simply disconnect it when I leave the room, and connect it back in when I start up playing again.

Some this I do agree with but the best way to fully enjoy the controller is with full haptics on if you don’t play many game that utilise it then that makes sense

I love the dual sense controller settings as they are, I feel like trying to change them for the minuscule amount of benefit you’d gain isn’t worth it. The other two tips about the mic and speaker are great though.

followed everything the man said in this video ( except reducing the volume of the controller speaker ) and did a test and the controller went from 7pm till 12:53am before say it's low on battery and that i should charge it. That's a cool 5hrs and 53min of battery over the 4hr every reviewer says it has from the get go.

Both haptic feed back and speakers increase a lot the immersion in a lot of games. Turning off or lessening an awesome new feature for battery time is just weird.

He said it increases immersion, not that it’s difficult to become immersed without haptics. I love the haptics. Feeling the game brings a whole new level of experience for me. My brain doesn’t separate my attention from the game to my controller. It all comes together. To each their own.

@@captainspaz8465 I have, yes. I’ve played Returnal, Spider-man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, God of War Ragnarok, and more with haptic feed back. I absolutely love it. I’ve grown so accustomed to it it feels slightly weird when I play a game without it. Listen, everyone has their preferences, and yours clearly is no haptics. I’ve had my original PS5 controller since release, and it has broken in (gotten rid of the *new* feeling), but it has not worn down. They’ve constructed the controllers quite well. They’re reinforced to handle the continuous, and repeated vibrations, and trigger resistances. You may have a dud if your controller is wearing down so quickly. Also, I don’t know how much you take care of your stuff, i.e setting the controller down too hard, etc.. That must be factored in. The controllers are indeed expensive because of their intricate construction. However, you have the option of completely switching off the haptics so as to mitigate the supposed wear you seem to experience.

@@captainspaz8465got a controller from launch, always used haptics and it’s still fine. Haptics are amazing on games like resident evil 4, cod, etc on Spider-Man it is mixed but most other games that use it use the haptics well
