I might be biased because I'm from Indiana, and I know IndyCar is a distant third (if that) behind F1 and NASCAR in terms of popularity here and worldwide, but there is NO greater combination of skill, speed and drama associated with motorsports than the Indianapolis 500.

Was at both the 2013 and 2014 500's Seeing Tony and then Ryan win was pure great racing. Folks, if you've never been to Indy figure out a way to get there. You can watch it for decades on TV, but when you are there it truly is magical. 2013 I was the first one in the Southwest gate at 5AM and I watched the sleeping speedway come to life. Jim Nabors and Balloons so thankful I went.

Born and raised, having just moved away a few years ago for grad school and career. It truly is magical and I miss it often. Seeing these clips just make an argument for me to come back. Until you’ve lived elsewhere I don’t think many realize how great Indy is.

It's my dream and still on my bucket list to see a race at the Indy 500. I've been too several NASCAR tracks but this race was always watched on TV in my house. One day I'll make it to Indy🏁🏎️

@user-ht1qp3ii8k GM was a class act. Once in the pits of the Milwaukee Mile, during a walk and talk interview, he stopped everything and went over to a little old man in a wheelchair. He knelt at his side and talked with him for several minutes. He must have been some great driver from bygone days. He showed tremendous respect. RIP GM

It's jaw-dropping that 10 years ago there was one overtake on an oval circuit using machinery 15 years out of touch with the rest of motorsport and nothing quite as exciting has happened since in US motor racing

@@karlt10 i don't remember what year Paul went from the radio network to television, but looking that up, tells me that in 2014 he was the chief announcer for the radio network, so this audio must be from the IMS radio network.

If this is Turn 1, the lead guy let the other guy by - you normally don't go wide on turn one if you are on the inside as other cars could be overtaking you on the right in the turn - hence - the lead let the other guy by -

@@RockMonger I’ve watched most forms of Motorsport since the 90s. If this is held as a top tier moment in Indy no wonder it’s barely holding on as a series. Go watch Rossi vs Lorenzo at Catalunya for a proper final lap worth discussing years later. I understand racing just fine, competed as a junior and teen. This is just mediocre at best.
