Interesting and very entertaining as always, Renée ! Here´s my answer on your special flea market situation : never rely on one single reseller like the Tote Man, because you might be disapointed one day (reseller passes away, stops reselling etc. etc.). Spread your "Renéedius" to a whole bunch of different markets, drop the worst and keep the best. During my "active" flea market time, I always got a dozen buddies who knew what I was looking for, and the majority made excellent prices for me. Today the situation is a little bit different, because most of "high end resellers" went over to antique shows or ebay, and nowadays the flea market scenery over here appears more like a "poor man´s market". Anyways, nice pickups though from the Tote Man´s inventory, a little bit of everything , hope you also took the antique pencil sharpener 😉. Have a great, sunny and relaxing Friday afternoon, Renée ! 🌄Greets from GER, U.

There are times when the Tote Man lets me know that he won't be at the market a certain day, so on those days, I should venture off to other markets to see what they have. I just am torn because this is the market that I've been going to since I was little, so it holds many memories for me (which are treasures in of themselves!). But perhaps the next time the Tote Man is away, we'll see what another flea market has! Hope you are having a great weekend so far!

Renee, you had a question about cleaning LP records. As a teen in the sixties we always just gently rinsed the disc in warm water with a soft rag and a little mild dish detergent. The drying could do the damage, we used soft old rags (like soft well-worn pajamas or similar), never anything scratchy or synthetic. It seemed to work well. I love your treasures from the tote man, always such variety.

@philiplafleur4504

Mold on the album is not a problem. You can wash vinyl records with soap and water using a soft sponge or cloth, nothing abrasive, and not hurt them. My son collects vintage Jazz and he taught me this. Also removes dust or soiling. The jackets can be treated like other molded paper but the amount of mold and type of mold is a factor. You continue to delight and amaze Renee. You have got to be the most transparent and frank person I've ever watched on KZitem. As for Nazi art, it is probably not in your book since it is so recent, but you must research Cornelius Gurlitt. His Dad was an art dealer connected to the Jewish community and as people left the country, having been forbidden to take hardly anything, they sold him their treasures, including works by Monet and Van Gogh, at bargain basement prices. It is a simply astonishing story and I suspect not the last time a trove will come to light.

Last fall, the Tote Man was stating how he was thinking of going to a different flea market to set up. At that point, I probably would have went to that flea market too. It's the fact that he has different things every time he sets up. Now it's not always what I like, like the one year where he had a trailer full of socks! But it's because he brings different things each week that he is great to shop with. There are people at this flea market that are still trying to sell the items they had from when this market opened up prior to Easter.

Hello Renee. I think that you feel you always find great things at the tote man’s and the flea market is like a old soft sweater , it’s a comfortable place for you and you don’t get so anxious there I’ve noticed. That’s probably why you don’t want to leave it. And if when you’re there you do go to other vendors that’s good. But if you decide to go explore another location then that’s a good thing. Because we all need to push ourselves to explore other things and that’s good for us. And you don’t have to stop going to this flea market. Just go explore another and see how it goes. I think it’s something that has been on your mind and you should try it. You’ll never know unless you try right. But the tote man does come up with great stuff like today. Take care. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🫖☕️🫖☕️🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Start with the amount of merchandise you find, multiplied by the money you spend, subtract the time you use up, divide by the cost of your emotions, add back any happiness you gain, divide by opportunities you lose, find the square root of the relationships you've built and then find the percentage of the convenience of the market, and that is your answer. I wonder if the Tote Man really would put things aside for you and you could go once every other week or once a month? The big flea market near here has become gentrified and overpriced. Whereas I used to go every week like clockwork, now I go once every two months or so - mostly to get a walk. Auctions and some estate sales are cheaper. You chased up some good finds. Shame about that wool fireman's flag. I laughed when you pulled out the iPod. My iPod Nano (Gen 4) just gave up the ghost so I can't listen to music (at least not my iTunes library) when I'm doing things (doesn't all fit on my phone). Hope you have a great weekend, the smoke is moving out (my folks in CT say they couldn't see the sun) and you find amazing things😀.

If my Ipod ever bites the big one, I'm in trouble because that is my go-to for music when I travel. (I should probably see about taking the songs off of it and adding them to my computer... is that still possible??) I don't really buy enough for the Tote Man to put things aside. There are others that come away with multiple piles, they just seem to carry that perfect for them tote off the trailer and find great things week after week. Also having things put aside would take away the fun and surprise of digging through the totes week after week. It's the mystery of what might be in a tote that brings the buyers in! Now I just need to grab the tote full of vintage things instead of the tote full of new kids clothes haha. The smoke is gone from here, finally! We had two days that were pretty bad. Many other market attendees purchase from the other sellers. The Tote Man is popular because he is one that brings different items every week. He might bring back a few of the same totes from week to week, but the majority of his inventory is new. There are sellers that have been setting up with the same exact items from when the flea market opened in the spring - same items, same price.
