Finally! I have had this rifle in 270 Winchester and love it! So much that I bought another last year in 300 win mag and literally sighted that rifle in with 5 shots. 1 at 25 yards, 1 at 50 yards, and a 3 shot group at 100 yards (1/2 moa) with 200 grain eldx going 2892 (avg). Also took a mule deer with it that fall. Love the high country series. It’s an excellent “out of the box” fit for any shooter. Barrel is super accurate. Your length of pull can be adjusted with a trip to Lowe’s or Home depot and get longer butt stock spacer screws. I love this rifle series. It is a bit heavy but a solid shooter with results.

To really get repeatable but accurate results, that's where I'd listen to what Henry does from 9 Hole Reviews. He'll do nine 9 shot groups, then get the average from the nine groups and that's what the rifle with that ammo is truly capable of. This also where you'll see some impressive accuracy from experienced hand loaders vs those shooting factory ammunition.

Adjusted the comb and pull to fit and the Savage accutriggers are very nice! Highly recommend! If I had any complaints is the bolt action is a bit sticky. Hope it will smooth out with more use.

This is without a doubt, the best rifle I own. My model in 30-06 is such a tack driver. The only problem I had was from the factory, the trigger weight was set as light as it could go, and the trigger had issues. I set it to 3 lbs. and haven’t had anymore issues with it. I can go anymore and hunt “almost” anything with this rifle.

Beautiful rifle and a nice shooter too especially once you got use to the lower scope. I have held that rifle and she’s even heavier than my Long Range Hunter but manageable. If my LRH in 300 WSM wasn’t on sale for $565 down from $900 I might have went with this one or a Tikka T3x in 300 WSM.

I have one of these rifles in 7mm Rem Mag (which includes a huge artillery-style brake). The name “High Country” is a bit misleading as this is a heavy rifle with a thick barrel. I got mine to do some long-range target shooting. So far it has proven to be highly accurate with factory loads, and I’m curious to see what it does at longer ranges with aerodynamic bullets in the 168-175 grain range.
@clintonlayne9253

Adam, the height of your scope depends on several factors. First you have a long neck as do I . I use.medim rings for 40 mm Scopes . I have to go to high rings for 50 mm and up. The last rings I bought were Burris Z rings. Nice looking groups .
@MichaelSisley-fw3xr
7 күн бұрын
I have no neck. It comes with its own problems of fitment of the cheek to the stock vs the eye being in the right place to see the scope. As the scopes get bigger, my problems grow. I used some refrigeration line foam (a pool noodle would work too) and elastic from the crafts store to outfit a cheek rise for my Savage 110 Hunter with heavy barrel in 223/5.56. That is my newest coyote gun. It shoots silly small groups and you cannot miss.

I like the barrel and action, but the stock is not selling it for me. I'd rather have a stock that's fully adjustable without adding or taking out spacers and such. G.K. USA. Never sell a a gun that you like in order to buy a gun that you desire. Keep the old and buy the new. My mistakes were to buy a Nylon 66 instead of a Savage-Anshutz. My dad would have helped me buy the latter .22. I should have purchased both. The Anshutze was 125- 150. This premiere rifle sky-rockeded in price shortly. The cool looking Nylon 66 was Too light and could not be as accurate as I desired. After it was n o longer manufactured, its price sky-rocketed. Later, I purchased a Colt Python. I did not care for the grips, nor the short cylinder that wouldn't accept 180 grain bullets. I should have cleaned and oiled the beautiful revolver and packed it away. Instead, I sold it. Big mistake! A close friend and fellow hunter, bought a used Rem. 742 with a Realist scope. His deer hunting was 50-50 woods and field. I sghted his rifle in and achieved 1"groups of 2- 3 shot strings. Then he shot several 3 shot groups of 1" at 100 yards. The ammo was what I used- Federal Premium 165gr. Sierra boattails. I advised him to not change anything. Several years later, he bought his ailing brother's Browning BAR 30- 06. Wonderful! In several years, his son will be hunting with one of the two rifles. Then he told me that his wife told him that he could not own more than one firearm. Therefore, he had to sell the Rem.742 30- 06 that produced 1:groups. I pleaded with him to not sell that gun. I offered to hide it in my house. He said that she would demand the $200 that paid for and would sell it for. Just as I was considering buying his rifle and adding it to my .30 cal. collection, he sold the Rem. I cried. Two years later, he ruined his Browning by packing it Wet( it rained that day)into his rifle case and leaving that way for a year. We both cried. Several years later, he and his wife divorced due to her Bi-polar condition. Tom quit hunting due to heart disease and passed 10 years later.
