in swordburst 2, you could dual wield by just using two light swords one in your right hand and one in your left hand. but in swordburst 3, now, you have to pay 800 robux to dual wield. that was certainly a "what the fuck" moment for me.

@@Adaro4747 the upgrade system in the third one is pointless but at least the rates of new weapons/armour and the way you get upgrades is not absolutely ass like in the second game, not to mention the combat was way worse, i hated the shield system. much prefer the actual lines of attack and that i can get out of the way instead of just letting the enemy hit me and hope i dont run out of shield and die rapidly.

I lost my shit laughing about both the game saying mooses, and eclipses calling it meese for a good five minutes. Next thing we know we are gonna have a quest called “kill 5 snowmeeses”

About the respawn, there is a warp pillar (grey pillar, which one of them located near the spawn) that located around the area so you can teleport, genuinely don't know it existed too when the first time playing it cause the game didn't tell it was there in the first place. While in the same topic of Roblox RPG games, can you review the game "Pilgrammed"? The game is pretty fun even tho it have lower than 1k players daily. The game does have some flaws (like how weird the parrying work), but it still fun nonetheless. Also the game have an in-game "wiki" with the name bestiary to see the loot drop and such if you curious. (sorry for some bad grammar here and there)

You can't make an actual SAO game on Roblox that's accurate to the source material. I might be biased because I vehemently hate the source material,but making a game that is eerily similar to SAO wouldn't be drastically different from this. Just make it a bit more like Rogue Lineage.

@@SlutForCynthia there are so many mechanics in SAO like blocking, dodging, team blocks, sword skills (usually more powerful based on hit count) etc. Its probably not that hard to make a mechanic where if you both attack with sword skills, you clash with each hit until the person with a higher hit count eventually gets a hit or two off. You probably watched like two seconds of SAO for you to say this

I noticed that the amount of XP needed for levels increases faster than the XP you get from quests. That means the further you are into the game, the more you have to grind for a single level. Not even mentioning how the enemies get stronger.

@Rock-vk9ei Not really? Even in extremely grindy RPGs like Runescape, the EXP gained increases to match your levels, you wouldn't be at level 100 combat and expect to gain levels by hitting a goblin. Same with any other MMO/RPG, Guild Wars 2, WoW, FFXIV, even a game like Warframe, the EXP gained usually matches your stage of the game so that gaining levels is more or less consistent.

That’s not the main problem with exp but that’s a byproduct of the main problem. The main problem is that exp required per level, and the exp you get from quests, both increase linearly, causing lower level quests to be more efficient for leveling than higher level quests due to much faster kill times and higher enemy density.

Honestly, for a game that's supposed to be based on SAO, it really adds almost none of the things that made SAO such an appealing idea to begin with. I don't know why most Roblox developers find this such a difficult to understand. But if you're making a game based on an anime (or anything for that matter), it should be fun for at least some of the same reasons why watching it is fun to begin with. I don't think it's all bad, but it's still ultimately just a bandit-beater with absolutely none of the things that set SAO (the game in the anime, that is) apart from well, any other RPG game. None of the skills to specialize in, none of the unique items, activities to do, community-driven gameplay, or events. Just W + M1 beating up what are effectively reskinned versions of the same enemy. There's definitely still room to recover, since it's still in early-access. But well, needless to say, I don't think anyone here has high expectations.

Oh thank god this game is so ass thank you for talking about it. I paid for alpha, posted a ton of suggestions in their discord, so did everyone else, but NOBODY listened. Side note, not sure if you noticed it in the video, cause i haven’t seen it all yet, but exp scaling is LINEAR, meaning the fastest way to level up is the LEVEL 4 QUEST, to MAX. Not sure what they were thinking at ALL. Alex has over a decade of game development experience and somehow managed to think “that’ll work fine” and NEVER fixed it.

I have a solution to that dilemma concerning boss damage % and stuff. You should only have to deal damage once, HOWEVER, you need to consistently be near the boss and constantly dealing damage to get credit (example: maybe you loose your credit every 20 seconds, and the only way to reset the timer is to attack the boss). That way, even weak players are allowed to get credit and thus levels/drops as long as they're capable of constantly attacking and manage to survive the boss's attacks- which in my opinion, is more important than meeting an arbitrary level requirement just to deal enough damage to stand a chance. Also, quick add-on, another newish DBZ game called Dragon Soul also has all of the boss drops and chances listed while the boss is on CD. Glad this is starting to catch on.

I vividly remember back in the day when i played the original sword burst online back in like 2015 and it was one of the best games i played back then during that era of roblox. Played half of SB2 and it was good, then played the early beta of SB3 and it was depressing, its sad to see what the series has become.

The boss fights were alright, and the models were good enough for some mobs to creep me out on my first sight. the devs never listened to the community during alpha and beta, the suggestions channels were in flames, and the starboards were filled with people saying they aren't being heard. nobody from the earlier versions enjoyed the game and i doubt nobody will enjoy this game in a month or two

Everything you mentioned is completely valid and I agree with and I’ll even share my own problems with the game. The Burst system; the way it’s currently implemented discourages trying out other weapon types since spending burst for other weapons will take away making bursts for one weapon type stronger. The chests; literally all the chests in the game are in the same orientation and it looks really amateur. The Vel rollback; there was an explore to dupe Vel, after they patched it they set everyone’s Vel to 0. The party system; there is a party system, but all it does is let you see the health of other party members, no shared EXP or loot. But despite that, I still enjoy the game, the PVE combat mainly. Moving forward I do wish they will implement ways to make the less grindy and add systems to reward teamwork.

Making another comment to talk about level locking: as a developer of an RPG game on roblox myself, I can assure you level locking does have its purposes. 1: players are stupid. Give them full freedom on where to go from the getgo and they will get lost. I'm guilty of this myself. 2: players are stupid. Let players go to the final area straight away, they'll get one shot, call the game trash and leave. 3: players are--ok that's enough. It can be important for story relevance, as letting players go to the final area of the game before they've accomplished anything to let them go there yet can ruin a lot of surprises, hype building and whatever. There's also a bunch of more niche gameplay elements that can be hurt from allowing players to sequence break like this, especially when you throw in multiplayer. But it's a fine line to walk, and most roblox games don't do it right. There are also other, usually better alternatives to level locking, such as, well, just locking certain items, areas, and whatever else to defeating specific bosses/enemies, but level locking has its purpose too. You just need to make sure that the level lock isn't a grind in and of itself. It's not meant to be. It's just meant to guide people to where they're needed to go, nothing else. If your level lock ends up being a grind, you need to buff XP rates. It's as simple as that.

I joined, saw around me for 2 minutes, clicked once and dipped inmediately knew what the whole game was gonna be about man i miss swordburts 1 (I think it was swordburst? idk if it was some other similar game since it got taken down), you could buy or trade with other players, you could craft weapons and they could be leveled up to stay relevant, fighting in a group was functional, and level gating didn't suck ass guess i'll go back to pilgrammed

Main thing that threw me off when I played SB3 was the lack of weapon diversity. I quickly noticed especially after Floor 3 update came out was all the weapons SO FAR were melee and close combat and was "Wish they add bows" (since Im a bow player in RPG games) and then after going through their discord saw that the game will be melee combat centralized since they wanted to "focus" on fast paced combat, which I didnt understand what so ever. At this point if the game is all about melee combat it doesnt live up to an actual SAO game. (SB2 also had this issue however I didnt mind it when I used to play it back then since the weapon diversity was enough to make me ignore it, PLUS I was a kid lol)

About boss drop chances. Though it's beneficial to have the % chances displayed, I think the opposite applies to certain other games. Arcane Odyssey for example. There's a sense of mystery surrounding much of the lore in that game so when you get something rare that you've never gotten before it's like unlocking a piece of the puzzle.

by the way, something that the game doesn't address when u first start is that there are waypoints, its a decently large crystal in a area that allows you to tp to certain places. This isn't your fault for not seeing them or noticing them on your playthrough, its the games fault that they don't address or point it out but its a convenient for setting your spawn. But on a side note, overall great video love your content keep up the work.

8:17 While it's certainly nice for them to do it if you care to go for the drops, what the game doesn't tell you is that not even 3 areas later, regular enemies drop better gear. There's no way to display or see what enemies drop what, but once I figured that out, every boss becomes completely pointless, Minus beating floor bosses once. You can even ignore fighting them if you want a drop, because someone will sell the gear anyway. All you gotta do is grind for Vel.

I was in love with sao:b in 2014 I played sb2 when it released but I couldnt get into it as much as the original. I couldnt even bring myself to get to level 10 in this game It was such a massive disappointment as a long time fan of alex's work I guess I was hoping that the gameplay would improve and grow with me as I got older and I expected more but if anything the gameplay has become easier, less fun and with only the graphics being updated. I'm just really sad he couldnt have done something more with this game and made it unique, better than previously. Id rather play shard online again then play this. The sb formula just feels dead there are other bandit beaters that are better than this and recycling the same game for the fourth time but with more colors and a different skill system was just not the right thing to do.

Never heard of your channel before, but the fact you're saying the exact same stuff that people (like myself) who have played previous Swordburst games have been saying since the game was in alpha is incredibly funny to me. Also, future floors actually get worse than floor 1, they start reusing enemies with slight reskins to the models, reusing AI and the attacks remain pretty much the exact same. I would recommend checking out Swordburst 2, its the same formula (that of a bandit-beater) but done far better in the early stages. The game is of course not good, but its still a massive leap above Swordburst 3.

Another thing about this game is that if you do managed to max out a weapon it will be equal or even better then any other drop you get till you decided to max another weapon out For example: I got a great sword from the second boss and managed to max it out and there wasn’t a single point of me using any of the other great swords I got from drops till I decided to max out another weapon which was the final drop from the last boss and the difference between stats weren’t even that much So I literally got a drop at level 15 maxed it out and didn’t have to use anything else till I decided to waste time to upgrade another sword to max which caused the cycle to repeat till I maxed out

for the most part, most of what you said was accurate. for hitboxes, they actually attack right before the circle fills up. i have no clue why. not to mention combining that with roblox ping, it makes situations where you get hit where you clearly shouldn't have. if anyone wants to test it, fight the wolf boss, and stand outside of the circle attack and dash in right before it fills up. the waypoints, i'm sure other people already pointed out them. they're basically everywhere which makes movement easier and would fix your dungeon issue cause there's always 1 before the boss and 1 at the entrance. surprised you didn't point out the lamest design for the dungeon. as for attacks, yeah it's basically copy and paste until like floor 2 boss. which has some pretty cool attacks despite it combining both circle and box attacks. like 2 rectangles making an x with 2 circles happening at the edges of it afterward. level locks are pretty dumb. I solo'd the wolf boss at literally level 12 or 13. i forgot. the level locks for floor 2 can get so dumb at times that the first quest you do is way more more efficient than the next 1-2 quests you unlock? if you noticed how barely the exp goes up per quest. like the difference between the crystal boars and the moose, or well "meese," is like 10 exp. which is literally one boar kill. the only "teamwork" part of the game is for floor bosses to split people up to dealing with enemies and the boss separately. but even then it's pretty lazy and most ignore it and just nuke the boss.

They should make a stat system, so you can upgrade Strength stat, your sword damage would increase for any weapon, to balance all the weapons, eevery single one should have an unique passive. Idk, that in my mind could work (you talked about that sorry 💀)

Swordburst 2 had kill aura on all enemies. The good thing is that this 3rd one is making you actually dodge rather than just stand in place and m1. However, the percentage and the boss farming feature has been a thing since swordburst 2. Seeing it in this game makes me a little speechless. Being sent back to the start when dying was in 2 as well. But other than that, 3 is a step up from 2. Not perfect, but a step up nonetheless.

i really wanted to see his reaction to playing old sb2, lol, it was like a 15 minute walk to the final boss (that's hard to figure out on it's own and hard to remember unless you memorized it) when u die and u had to repeat it a million times cuz of campers stealing kills and dying. i remember taking like 3 days trying to kill the f5 boss and literally quitting the game later on cuz i couldn't find the f9 boss

SB3 is just a one player grind simulator compared to SBO 1 and SB2. It's made to be a mindless grindfest with almost zero challenge and next to no open world exploration, considering the maps are ridiculously straight arrowed with a few branches off. You also have to rely on quests for exp cause monsters basically drop nothing, and level locking is an easy way to force more playtime which children will buy into cause it's fun doing the same mindless thing over and over again for minimal progress at that age. Exploiting children for money seems to be key priority for Alex now.

During the part when you were talking about taking you back to the start if you die, there are these pillars that are called waypoints. They look like those crystals at the starter spawn, but in stone form. You have to hit E on the waypoints to activate them, they allow you to teleport to any other waypoints you've activated. Although, I think they should have had some sort of tutorial or something pointing to the fact that these waypoints existed as I stumbled upon them completely by chance.

12:00 I think the spawn mechanic was actually super cool because it makes the boss fights actually tense the first timee you enter the rooms and battle them tbh, if I spawn right outside the room and can just keep helping my teammates who are alive the boss would feel a bit cheesy. This choice sorta reflects the whole perma death thing going on in SAO except it would be way too frustrating to make an RPG like this have that feature so I think this is a good substitute.

@gtho dude this is the problem with roblox playerbase , they all complain about "linear progression" and then procced to follow one single path given to them without exploring anything, you want the game to TELL YOU about everything even as simple as a waypoint , if you had any sense of exploration and tried to look into structures around you , you'd know that its a waypoint , especially a very obvious looking big pillar present in every single area

14:30 there ARE actually other options, this one is way better than killing the meese: do the wolf-killing mission, wolves are packed together, mission gives about the same amount of exp, ALSO. also.. if you just went and farmed wolves and the wolf mission, it would barely take you 7 hours to reach the MAX LEVEL in the game, level 65, I've tried it, it's by far the best way to max an account there, you'll also have about 120-130K vel to buy a max greatsword and a max armor from a random guy on the trade hub.

I used to be a fan of Sword Burst 2 so imagine my joy when I saw the third instalment released... And then imagine my disapointment when I realized half of the cool features have been deleted, original formula have been simplified to death and the most popular playstyle has been locked behind a paywall. They paywalled the goddamn dual wielding. The sole most popular way to wield swords in their fandom... Oh and they removed the rapiers. As the sole remaining rapier fan I condemn this decision

I cant with the level lock in the FINAL area, or level locks in general. If the player can kill higher level enemies with no issue while being a low level, then let them progress faster. Reward their asses for being able to deal with higher level enemies while being a low level.

My friend was a playtester for this game. He loved SB2 a lot. He hates it with a burning passion. While it was in development he and a bunch of other playtesters criticized it heavily for how bland and mundane it was. It was completely ignored. In fact, I believe they were even threatened with bans when they kept criticizing, though I might be misremembering. So yeah... I knew from the get-go that this was a lost cause lol

I agree with almost everything you say here, It would be sick if legendaries or what not has unique abilities, what I will also say is it would be nice to have a transmog system, where if you get a legendary you can convert it to a transmog that you can equip as a skin. That way when it becomes cycled out you can still use it as a cosmetic.

Forget Sword Burst 3, Sword Burst 2 is the GOAT. The main thing that set them apart from the start is the tone, SB2 feels more mature, more passionate, the first thing that hit me when I think back of SB2 is the musical choice, it's excellent, even if they are not original, the way they're weaved into each part of the game are thought-out and makes it feel immersive; the level design are somewhat good, especially the mazes - floor 2 best maze - I will miss them if SB2 were to shut down. However unfair it sounds, I love the fact that a random noob can just be gifted a shield or a limited sword and gained a massive boost in power, even though having never experienced it myself, but I have experienced skipping progression (i.e killing fl1 boss as a lvl 7 by spining around it in a certain way) that other players in game had taught me or helped me with - It's the social aspect that's missing in most games nowadays. Despite the nonsensical grindy progression of the game, I enjoyed it somehow. When I heard of SB3 being developed I was hopeful, with the fact that skill is implemented into killing mobs and such, not just slicing them mindlessly knowing you have a sword good enough to do so. I was disappointed when it came out, it lacked the things that make SB2 good, it felt like a cash gap, an effortless piece of media that was patched together using whatever "accesses" they can find to cut development cost, the samey graphics, the lazy copy and pasted design choices (ever heard of World Zero? it looks exactly like this just with different branding and what's not, developed by the same guy basically), the questing system that was no different from other games (again WORLD ZERO), the contents that is locked behind paywall (The only thing SB2 locked behind paywalls are cosmetics, which F2P player can still get through trades). I would rather regrinding SB2 3 more times (which is what I am doing right now) than playing SB3.

[ vid.time; 12:00 ] I would mention that the crystal types of rocks found nearly beside every NPCs/villages are respawn anchors and we have to activate them (no need to recharge them again after death) you will spawn to the nearest one. I too didn't notice it (lack of tutorial) unless i started to wonder around press all keys on my keyboard and talk to each and every NPC. They have an official wiki(fandom) linked to their discord where it has all the info but there is no mention of the wiki on the home page of the game on Roblox. I think most of your topics are really good to discuss about but 10% of them can be debatable due to its a Roblox game (I know some games have crossed their limits too in being a Roblox game).

Another game made by twin atlas is robloxian highschool. (currently slowly dying) Its basically an advanced avatar creation game being masked by a highschool roleplay based game. You can create almost anything (GOW, Baki, JJba etc.) even GAME ACCURATE if you are skilled enough. I recommend trying this game if youre looking to create some masterpieces and just try reviving the game

The way i found out about waypoints was just by passing by one. I didnt even notice it was a waypoint i just found out by randomly passing by, that thing looked like a random rock, A RANDOM ROCK.

12:00 Uh... Eclipse, there are waypoints in this game. You know, the BIG-ASS GREY CRYSTALS YOU ENCOUNTER ALONG THE PATH? Yeah, those allow you to teleport between them instantly. Anyways, glad you did a review on this game, I really loved the 2nd game more than this one, despite the much simpler combat and more grindy progression, but since it came out very recently, hopefully there is a (VERY FUCKING LOW) chance that the devs change it for the better.

@@moku2s511 It may be just me, but when I see an out of place structure that obviously stands out of it's surroundings, I usually visit it to investigate, because it is quite obvious that it is there for a reason, given it's a literal step from the main road. Idk why do people, apparently, struggle with noticing that it's a waypoint in this game specifically. On another hand, since it is an existing problem, they could do something similar to Genshin Impact, where teleport waypoints that have not been unlocked could spawn a marker on your screen within 100 or so studs from the player.

@@Alex_Fishman Nah, even a guy like me who absolutely adores finding secrets and looking into the details wasn't able to see the waypoints up until the wolf area. It just doesn't graphically stand out- and generally speaking the walk between early areas isn't too drastic so you wouldn't bother searching for one. It could've had a few idle sparks flying around it or something, some sort of aura or bright highlight SOMEWHERE, but it doesn't.

The thing these games are doing is checking if you are getting hit on the server since it's simple and not possible to see in roblox studio, if you check hitboxes on the client and then send it to the server it is abuseable by exploiters to some extent, if you know how to code you can just save the clients position with respective time on that client and later check if he was standing in the hitbox afterwards, but I haven't seen a lot of games doing it this since roblox developers can just blame it on ping and forget about it, also most of the time they aren't smart enough to do that anyways
