Peter O'Toole hated it and he was bloody Priam!! His interviews for the movie are painful. He looks like he is sitting on broken glass. To quote him (and btw his performance of Priam is for many people, the standout performance of the entire film): Ugh, what a disaster. The director, (Wolfgang Pederson) that k***t, [racial slur for German] what a clown he was”. Continuing, he added: “When it was all over, I watched 15 minutes of the finished movie and then walked out…At least I had one good scene”. Soooo 😬
@cathdodd5072
7 ай бұрын
I know by the way, that if he was unhappy, Peter would have been a complete nightmare to work with. I know Diane Kruger said as much. He probably didn't have a lot of respect for her as an actress and, to be fair, her performance consisted of turning up and looking distressed in what would have been a harrowing, traumatic experience. IMO she sleptwalked through the whole thing. Maybe it was because she had sweet FA to really work with but I never got the sense of a conflicted woman beside herself with guilt as this sh*tshow plays out - as she is in the Iliad. I know the Iliad would be basically unfilmable as a lot of myth is unpalatable to a modern audience. I mean, let's face it: in this scene, Briseis has been taken against her will, assaulted, brutalised - probably gang raped by Achilles' 'heroic band of brothers' and given to him as a prize. These are not two crazy kids falling in love, even if Brad Pitt is crazy attractive.The Greeks are not gentlemen and women are treated as nothing more than possessions. Except for Andromache - her relationship with Hector is stand out. But we all know how that ends. Andromache is taken as a slave (and we all know what that would mean for her). Also I doubt whether modern audiences could have stomached their little baby boy being thrown off the walls of Troy by Odysseus nor seeing Priam's daughter Cassandra raped in the temple by Ajax. These heroes are not likable by modern standards (even if Sean Bean make Odysseus so). They are bloodthirsty brutes, rapists and slave drivers. Murderers of children. Ravagers. If the roles were reversed, the Trojans would have been the same. So I would say it was a heroic effort by the cast to bring an ancient story to modern audiences and although I was disappointed, it was good for what it is.

Yeah true, it's weird when actors get and play the perfect role that they were born for and then say it sucked... like what do you want? You just played the greatest most beautiful warrior of all time?? AND you did an amazing job.

Brad Pitt Lord have mercy. This is a beautiful man. He was born to be one ofvtge greatest most adaptable actors ever. When he plays a part you forget what they say about him, you forget his other movies all you know is the character your watching him potray. He made Achilles a villain, a hero, a lover, a protector , a murderer, a Legend ❤❤❤❤❤

I always felt alone because I was never truly content with myself. I avoided it by jumping into relationships as I thought they gave me self worth. But as cliche as it sounds I realizeI must learn to love myself. Even when it gets hard I must understand that I am ok and that what I do matters

Well said mate. Investing in yourself is the greatest investment you can make. Chasing relationships and putting your worth in others will only crumble one day and hurt immensely. Increasing your own value and worth through skill and competency, strength, knowledge etc. you become more attractive, especially to those that see true worth, and well... life does the rest for you. :) Keep going mate, being at peace while lonely is a powerful tool. Not fearing loneliness but embracing it to become greater makes you an undefeatable individual.
