Wow saw this car like 20 years ago, I dont think anything except the vin tag wasnt ruined, I cant believe its still unrestored, cool its still original. I feel bad for who ever has the task of sanding off the shelby autographs is they decide to restore it.

I was born in Harrisburg in 67’ and took my very first car ride home to Mechanicsburg in my dads 66’ Shelby GT350. He sold it a few years later .(to many kids to own a sports car )

Big fan of Southeast Gassers Association but they sanded and painted a tri-five chevy that was an original paint gasser from the 60s and local to the area. I have not forgiven them. Make it a street strip car with no external changes beyond preservation. Gorgeous as she sits in honest form.

i wonder what ever happened to the black GT350 that lived in the san fernando valley in the mid 80s that got smashed in the right front really badly.. that was such a beautiful car.. it had shelby flares and fiberglass front fenders.. that is how the right front suspension was shoved into the firewall when it got knocked off the road and into a powerpole..

Strip what's left off of it And hang it on the wall The old man signed it!! It'd be tough to fully restore it with Mr Shelby's name on the roof

It would be cool restored to drag racing condition. The parts that Shelby signed may be a problem. Keeping that is important.

"Carroll Shelby couldn't believe someone treated one of his cars like this"? He threw a few of them in the ocean when they came back from racing at LeMans in 1965. I think it was 1965. Yep, he didn't want to pay for transport or storage so, into the drink they went. If you want one, you may can find what is left in the Atlantic Ocean. What a shame.

Yes unfortunately a lot of Shelbys and great muscle cars were treated this way back in the day. However, I believe you are probably thinking of the Shelby Daytona coupe‘s that raced (and nearly won)at Lemans in 65.Ford cared more about the GT 40 program and wasn’t concerned with the Daytona coupe any longer. English customs officials would not allow them to stay in the country so they considered sending them out on a barge and throwing them in the channel. thank God that didn’t happen as cooler heads prevailed and the cars were shipped back home. Currently they’re worth around $40 million each.

So many wrong decisions made with this car. 1st was making it a drag car 2nd using it as target practice 3rd let it rot for decades 4th not restoring it, but hope that changes Also there is a difference between “patina” which is just blemishes pickled up from life and outright abuse and neglect

If the current owner isn't going to get on it and restore it, sell it to someone who will restore it right away. That's a disgusting sight to see it in that condition. The owner of CJ's should be embarrassed.
@cjponyparts

Why would he be embarrassed? He didn’t let it get that way, that’s how it was found. Yes it will be restored at some point, we have the resources to do it right. It makes a great conversation piece as it sits and someday will be restored when the time is right.
