Hurricane Harvey 2017 Slow moving, several landfalls each time moved out over Gulf to pick up another load of water and move back in to dump it 45 inches of rain in 3 days where I live south of Houston Got flooded but not as bad as other areas
@millergrrrl

@@scottsluggosrule4670 depends on where you are in relation to the hurricane making landfall. Plus storm surge. We were in Georges' eyewall for 8 hours, and Katrina also rotated over top of us. (We live in South Mississippi.) Can't remember if Zeta was a fast-moving storm or not. Plus went through a typhoon in the Philippines where the feeder bands were more damaging than the storm proper. Not all hurricanes move fast. Storm surge is a killer, and tornadoes in the eyewall are no picnic, especially in the right front quadrant.

Thanks for the heads up Max. Here in SE PA we really need some steady soaking rain, but still need to be careful what we wish for. A tropical storm or even a weak hurricane coming up the coast can be too much of a good thing. Fingers crossed for everyone in Florida and up to the Outer Banks.

I’m getting MAJOR Katrina vibes from this little storm that’s brewing. As somebody that was sandwiched between the two most talked about states, Louisiana and Alabama in the state otherwise known as Mississippi when Katrina came through and managed to make it through. I hate the Gulf of Mexico just because of the insane amounts of energy it holds, so storms can go from a shredded tropical wave to a cat 5 over night basically.

Great job. This is the good stuff. So many weather channels are BAD, using imprecise misleading language and more intent on begging for likes and promoting their social media. I don't know about anywhere else but it is been over a hundred for almost months now in Massachusetts, speaking the terms of the dew point and at the peak periods during the day, for the past 2 days it has been exactly 100°, I'm looking forward to hopefully it stays one hurricane to come through New Bedford anyway, not to bring destruction for anyone to get hurt just to get rid of the really play hazy are clean out the place you know? Be on the lookout I wouldn't be surprised if it would make an opportunity to go up the East Coast, I saw another comment about the gulf yes it's been really bad! Feeling like it's over a thousand degrees in some places in the Gulf, stay cool and keep hydrated make sure you guys also always try and keep either a weather radio or some sort of also UHF and or 10 banned and or ultra low high frequency communication, doesn't hurt to spend 50 bucks on an old radio shack stick it in the car get a 3/ footer from Walmart? You can either wire it up to an old radio if you have one of those cars or just get yourself if you have a toolbox like myself make sure that the drill battery pack has the amperage that is compatible to your 2 watt shortwave radio and just bolted to the dash! I've noticed also in Massachusetts that a lot of people are switching over to Old UHF radio! That's actually very smart, if you are on the coast and you have a small vessel make sure that you use channel 16? They'll tell you to swap over to either 9 or 19? If you ever need help? As well as if you live on the coast it doesn't hurt in that case to you need an 8-ft SSB LSB capable antenna they're not as expensive as they used to be some of them are very expensive? Antenna with the kicker on the bottom of it kind of looks like a dome? It wouldn't hurt to spend a little extra money that also comes with a magnet that keeps it attached to the car and or any sort of Mount that you have? I just thought I would share some of this information because we've had a few brownouts! As well as so far 1 911 outage this summer in New Bedford Massachusetts.

Polar vortex events can be very disruptive up there, but they don’t tend to take anyone by surprise. :D Flooding can happen fast and there’s absolutely nothing that can be done except get to safety. There’s a website- I can’t remember who did it 😭 where you can look up your area and see flooding risk areas. It’s good to know because sometimes they have no choice but to use roads to guide flood water during big events.
